Hi guys,

I've long dreamed of getting one of these and a few weeks ago, on a snowy Saturday in Hastings, got one.
It's a bit old at 10+ years now and there's a few (okay, quite a few) small scratches here and there, but it'll do for my first convertible...
Mileage is okay at 71k and engine seems spot on; it was probably loved by its first owner (maybe even a forum member?) as it has a few mods, aux cable and some pipes underneath the boot which are the remnants of a bike stand afaik. Probably fell into neglect afterwards...

Now I've started, of course, to have a spot of roof trouble. Unfortunately I do not have a garage - that I can fit the car in - and so it seems that while it was working fine when I bought it, it must have gotten wet in the meantime.

Hi and welcome OP.

Lovely looking Z you have there!

If the aux connection is the 3.5mm jack plug on the bottom of the dash it's a standard fitment, but there are also kits you can buy.

Not too clued up on roof motors (seeing as I've only had Coupes!) but I believe they are prone to water ingress because of where they are fitted. There are members in different locations that can potentially save them, and relocate them into the boot.

Someone may be along soon with more info. but if not you could try going to E85/86 problems and search "roof motor". Hope it can be sorted fairly painlessly.

Nearly forgot, bonus points for photos in your first post. :winner:

Cheers Mr. Tidy,

Yes had a quick look around before posting anything :)

My Aux is just a cable with a jack coming down from into the driver's footwell from the central bit, definitely like a hack job. Also have to crank up the volume quite a bit when sending something through there, but honestly I've not even used it yet except for testing so can probably live with it this way.

With the roof motor, yes, already contacting bowser - replacing or not, it seems like a good idea to relocate it

Hi and welcome.

Thanks for the pics - nice looking Zed. If you have roof motor problems then get it into the boot (says the guy who has been lucky not to have roof motor problems!).

Enjoy :driving:

A bit of research is a good idea - I probably should have done more myself!

Good news with the roof motor.

On the aux input front, I'm still thinking of putting one in mine. These people have had favourable reviews:- https://fruitycarcables.co.uk/fruity%20car%20cables/shop/select%20your%20model.ehtml#/products/z4-e85-e86-aux.html
