So after a generous trawl through t'internet regarding roof motor problems, I guess I'm looking for a bit of verification on this post. Here's the brief background to my issue.
-- A couple of weeks ago I noticed the roof opening/closing sequence seemed slightly longer than usual. As well as that, there was a noticeable lower tone in the motor noise.
-- Skip forward to last week and the opening/closing sequence is even slower, with the sound from the motor affirming that it's definitely struggling for life.
-- Yesterday the motor seemed to have packed in for good.
Here's what's happening right now;
-- When I press and hold the roof open button the windows roll down and the roof unlocks as normal. This initial sequence seems flawless and just as fast as it's always been.
-- After that, there is no movement in the roof whatsoever. The motor is silent. The led on the roof button is solid red whilst my finger is down. If I let go of the button, it flashes red continuously.
-- I can still press the close button and the roof locks itself again and the windows will roll up.
This is the only information I can give at the moment - I hope it's enough for you guys to go on. I'm very much a Z4 noobie so I definitely need some help.
In the event that a new motor is required, I live in Leicestershire so if anyone knows of a reputable garage (even within neighbouring counties) that would be appreciated.
