06 M roadster Over Temp light

Currently, deployed to Afghanistan. So I can't troubleshoot the issue myself.. My wife sends me a picture of the roadster red over temp light on, and blowing hot air according to her. We just had the car at our local BMW shop, less than a month ago, to deal with diagnostic, maintenance and alternator change which ran me about 880US and another 500 for a rental even with my aftermarket warranty. As I'm sure you can understand I'm trying to avoid the shafting of BMW services, unless I absolutely need to. Any ideas? I've heard coolant could be low, bad water pump, maybe a bad fan..
It's 06M

First time light has appeared

Most obvious is low coolant so would have your wife check that.
Beyond that could be many things Inc those you suggest like water pump.

Whatever you do don't let anyone drive it until it's diagnosed
