06+ digital oil gauge

I may be having a spaz moment but when do you need to top up the oil on the facelift cars with the digital gauge? Mine says OK with 3 dashes. Full would be 5 dashes. Do I only top up when it asks?

Only when computer tells you to do so.

Doesnt seem to use much oil I find. Mine is about 3000 miles away from an Inspection 1 and the oil marker is on 50% but I do a lot of motorway cruising so it`s not often given the beans
