This ad is for my Maldives Blue 2.5i roadster.
I purchased this as a doer-upper in April, having enjoyed working on my son’s (identical) car which I sold to a fellow forum member. I bought it as a runner, but in cosmetically poor condition with no service history.
I have cleaned / tweaked / restored and driven this car for the last few months but now I have one too many Zeds. This one is for sale first.
Good points:
- cheap. There are some fancifully priced old cars out there, this is not one of them.
- reliable. No issues in my ownership
- super-clean engine. No oil or coolant leaks
- New England leather seats. Heated and electric
- uprated hi-fi. Big pair of speakers wired into the bass cubbies
Bad points:
- no service history, so don’t ask. Service indicator was showing 14,250 to go when I bought it, oil and brake fluid was very clean and all the filters were new, so I knew it had recently been serviced. I have inspected the spark plugs, and these look like they were probably new also. Engine does not smoke and no mayo under the filler cap.
- front bumper is a home respray job (by me). I’m quite pleased with it, but it has a slightly matt finish compared to the rest of the car.
- aircon does not deliver cold air. I think this will just need re-gassing but beyond my DIY capability.
Other points:
- overall condition is not bad for a 19 year old car. There are minor imperfections on most of the panels with some paint touch-in, but the paint itself is generally good. No rusty arches.
- new battery
- new rear suspension - dampers (OEM), coils and drop links
- front suspension refreshed - one year old dampers (OEM), new drop links and ARB bushes
- front bumper, rear bumper, skirts, mirrors, front undertray, metal undertray, right and left splashguards all replaced with “better” second hand units and affixed with new nuts and bolts.
- RIAL X10 17” rims with Nokian tyres (square set up) plenty of tread
- colour coded interior trims (could be unique)
- callipers also painted blue.
Mechanically the car is sound; starts, runs and drives just fine with no untoward noises.
Roof motor has not been relocated, but the roof works absolutely fine and is in good condition, no holes.
MOT 19/08/23
This is a perfectly usable and fun Summer car, which you could break for parts at little risk if it doesn’t work out for you.
Located near Farnham, just inside Hampshire.
£1,950.
