03~05 FULL circle Brake light BRIEF

Just did this mod to my Z. Simple and quite effective, did not use the connectors, simply bridged the two wires.. Concur that the lights appear brighter.

Don't think they'll object to the full circle mod (well, some probably will ... ;) ). Badges seem to be the biggest bugbear, and moving away from stock (like some I could mention :D)

It's an easy mod, and quick to revert if you go to an Alpina meet....

I can't see why anyone would give a flying fig... essentially it's an invisible mod and no different to fitting an Intravee, a Gaptech module or LED interior bulbs....

Yeah, I suppose its invisible if parked up or showing the car and also easily reversible. I just dont want to play with it too much. However, saying that, Jamie already modified it with the Angel Eyes and clear brake-light anyway.
Having just put the roof back in the other Zed and having relocated the motor to the boot, that is something I would definitely do on the Alpina, if the roof ever has to come out, but I dont think I'll do it just for the sake of it.

:D mine has also been de-gingered and angel eyes added. When I went to an Alpina meet at Sopers with these as the only visible mod, I overheard one of the Alpina forum members state that mine was "no longer a proper Alpina now it's been butchered".

So don't think you should worry about the full circle mod!

Is this easy enough to do? I hate messing around with electrical stuff in cars as it usually ends in disaster in my case

Its just a matter of adding a short link csble, as per page 1

I've read through this thread and I want to do the opposite to what seems the popular modification. I'm going to fit an O/S/R light unit from a LHD car so that I have 2 clear reversing lights. To achieve 2 rear fog lights I'm considering using the inner half of the side light rings as fog lights and, having bridged the wires in the light plugs, found that this works in the same way that you achieve a full circle brake light. Just wondering if anyone has done this before ?

Thanks,

Tony.

Job done this weekend. I now have 2 reversing lights and 2 rear fog lights. I have "Cree" style LED bulbs in the reversing lights and the rear indicators too. Also on the rear indicators I've fitted in line resistors to keep the flasher can from doing it's nut and to stop the Canbus reporting a bulb out. I'm well pleased with the fruits of my labour and the car looks standard inside and out. :D

Tony.

Yes it can.
- Its happens normally under 2nd Stage braking, but can be programmed as a default under normal braking, I beleive

its not adding wires, its just a matter of connecting up two wires into a connector block on the rear of each lamp cluster.

It can be coded though, see here: http://support.mycarly.com/knowledge-base/code-bmw-what-is-possible/
