speaking of which ......
auto or manual, has anyone notice how difficult it is to steer when she's got her head down there, Ive nearly hit a few cyclists that way ....... :D

Imagine if she was driving. You'd have to reach over to steer and change gear whilst giving commands about everything lol

All this fixation on an arbitrary and outdated number yet nobody has questioned whether their speedo is accurate. Out of curiosity some testing vs gps on motorways showed an indicated 70mph gave the following gps measured speeds.

Z4M - 68mph
Prius - 64mph (a trick to improve the mpg figures perhaps?)
1.6 mk3 astra - 67mph

I would argue that tailgating is a bigger problem than speed and freely admit to not hanging about when passing trucks or vehicles with significant blind spots.

The speedo unless modified is supposed to over read so that if you get done speeding there is no comeback on the manufacturer. Clearly seems to be reading spot on as 1mph at 100 mph read is only 1%, no real margin. You couldn't really do much against BMW as he was well over. And well he knew he was speeding. It's a bit like the sensitivity of auto lights, bmw sets it high at a range that where lights are mandatory on some roads in some lighting conditions ie dusk and tunnels these should work if set to come on. That way you can't blame bmw of you get done for no lights unless it's proven to be faulty.

He could of asked to see the equipments calibration certificate, if it doesn't have a current one then it could be contested and no prosecution would take place.

I very much agree that tailgating is a much bigger issue and although the law was changed to stop lane hoggers there is nothing being done. It's bad enough when you get them on a 3 lane motorway but on the A1 there is always 1 who comes on right into the outside lane and proceeds to sit there doing 55-60mph passing nothing and not moving in. The two lane section of the M8 can be just as bad. It's not lane hogging it's people driving without due care and attention. The kind of people that as something come thundering up they fail to check their mirrors and just pull out.

Lane hogging is becoming a real problem. I travel motorways a lot and it is getting much worse - paticularly on the 4-lane sections. They look aghast when you visually express your displeasure. You shouldn't be able to pass your driving test without having driven the examiner along a motorway :headbang:

Despite being given the powers to pull them over, I'm yet to see a police car do it yet.

I was thinking of claim that its BMW's fault for putting over 350 horspower in the car ..... would never have happened if the Z4M only had say ...... 22 hp .......

boy on the spot hade a point of showing me the valid calibration sticker on his radar thingy lol ..... so Im fecked on that score

to be honest Im not really fussed ....... they are not going to sell my kids, they are mot going to stop me seeing my wife, they are not going to take me outside and shoot me .....
even though it is Scotland I understand that there are maximums ...... so just want them to get on with it :D

....... and my new Z4M Ton Up Club, certified member Tee Shirt has already been dispatched .... should have it monday .....

and on another totally different tangent I am well pissed off ....... I pay a zillion pounds a minute to have Sky Tv beam all the motorcycle racing straight into my house, last night I found out that Sky no longer has it ..... and .... I have to pay another 15,quid a month to BT to get it back .......... and those feckers at BT charged me 14p a minute to call them up to stop them calling me every morning at 8 am telling me I have no text messages ...... rant rant rant :headbang:

Lol! Having a right good time.

Just don't wear your T-Shirt to court. Hopefully you'll just get a points and a fine :)

couldn't help noticing your comment about how my speedo is really accurate :D

hmmmmmm, of course it is

Ah so when you said to your Mrs it was 100 it was really more than that on the reading then. Very naughty boy

If you are going to court, chances are it's a ban & they're probably sick of hearing lame excuses.

Think I'd say 'You caught me with my trousers down your honour in a rare moment of reckless madness. I appreciate this can't go unpunished & the last few months have made me realise just how stupid I have been, so I will accept any points & fine you impose without complaint but respectfully ask you do not give me a total ban, as I really do need my vehicle for work.'

With a ban, I understand all the things you're entitled to drive on your license will be removed when is reissued, let alone the insurance issues after a total ban.

Hmmmmmm not looking good ......
Just reading on the BBC website that a bloke in Perth got a 56 day ban for 104 mph on the M90 as well as a 540 pound fine ...... ouch !!! :driving:

I never lie about numbers Carol :D
I just use words like Huge and enormous instead .....

BTW mins after I posted the bit about said bloke getting a 56 day ban in Perth, the brown envelope fell through the letter box ......

I have the option to plead guilty by post and send my documents in .....
Now if I am not mistaken, I believe this means that we are talking points and a fine ...... ie NO Ban ....... I believe a manadatory appearance is required for a ban ........ comments please, anybody who knows these things......

Anyway, no other charges and the Police said I was very nice about it all and traffic was light, road conditions good ....

Heres hoping ......

think you should turn up in court with this on... set the tone:

I've had a ban, knew it was a ban and I had the option to plead guilty by post also so don't take it for granted you'll not get a ban, you still can. I even sent my docs recorded delivery and they never reached the court. I however was turning up anyway. It was not stated that I had to turn up at court, however by doing so I could give my version of events and advise on my income and expenditure for fine purposes. I got no points though, just a ban.

Thanks for that bit of clear info .........
Will just have to wait and see then ...
I'm planning on taking my docs to the court myself as its just up the road, I have heard a few stories of "lost Documents"

:D

If Scotland goes proper standalone /independent / non Eu etc - Will we be able to break the speed limit then run for the border in either country ? :D
