New Range Rover Sport

Went to the local dealer today - the interior is very smart although it as lost the commanding driving position of the outdoing model, the seats are very comfortable with the leather quality in line with the Range Rover. The new central armrest works well and has replaced the old captains chair armrests rather well. the new TFT screen is stunning.

Thought the boot space was disappointing and the rear although comfortable was a little claustrophobic .

but can't get on with the cheap detailing- around the front end the grilles on the side look too small and the bonnet vents which look OK on the evoque look a bit silly on the RRS. the rear has a huge slab of black plastic which looks ugly.

all in all - coupled with the lethargic response of the sales staff - didn't leave with the same money burning a hole in my pocket feeling that the MY10 RRS facelift did when it was launched.

i went next door to the Porsche Centre an was much better looked after - might consider a Cayenne next time round and it now looks the more conservative of the two.

Drove one at Lakeland Land Rover yesterday- all I can say is despite my misgivings regarding exterior styling this thing drives incredibly well it is unworldly the way it picks up speed considering its bulk. The TFT display makes every other dashboard look outmoded and the rest of the interior means Audi/BMW/Merc have got a huge amount of work to do to get an interior in the same level of refinement.

Waiting list is stretching out to 12 months and lower level trim models are being delayed as they are managing to sell what they can in higher trim levels.

Humble pie eaten

I love the new RRS, but can't get on with the New RR!

I loved the old one, but just can't get on with the new one. It looks too bulgy and overweight!

I hope the new generation of RR are more reliable. My dads RRS TDV8 has been terrible. It's probably spent more time in the garage than out of the garage in the last year! And I'm not even exaggerating!! Luckily all under warranty!

I think I prefer the full fat RR over the Sport but it used to be the other way round last time. I'd still love a V8 one though :sweetheart:
