BMW warranty over 60k miles....

I'm sure this doesn't apply to most, but I've just had my renewal through for the extended warranty on the ZMC and it's up over £500 on last year @ £1457 for the comprehensive warranty paid up front with £250 excess.

I can only assume this is because of the current milage, 60200miles (up from 40k this time last year).

Seems a bit of an excessive jump to me.

Has anyone taken out the extended warranty on an M with this sort of milage?

Cheers
Alex

I've taken out the monthly warranty before it it gets to that mileage, as I knew from previous experience what happens at that mileage.

However, the quote for my no-excess, fully comp, with assist policy was something like £960 if I paid annually - the £250 excess one was about £800, so your's has almost doubled.

Can you try a quote with 59,000 miles instead?

interesting, BMW haven't asked me for my mileage for the warranty in 2+ years and the premium has stayed the same. Maybe there's something in the small print. Must dust it off and have a look!

Well, it's not even in the small print Sammy - they openly tell you that over the phone. They advise to take out the monthly policy, and are very upfront about it, even with mine which was on 56,000.

Bear in mind though that whilst the cost remains the same, some components (e.g. suspension) aren't covered after 60,000 miles, as they are considered 'wear and tear' items.

Well, they don't. But if something broke say the next day, and you were actually on 70,000, I doubt they'd pay out!

I think it's sealed the deal on no more warranty.

It's a gamble, but on the last 12months warranty I claimed a CD changer. Not quite £850's worth....

That's insurance for you though isn't it. Think I'm better off developing a maintenance kitty with the money I'd have put into the warranty.

I'm at 59,900m today... Spoke to Warranty the other day to change direct debit & I asked about swapping to an annual payment, they said they'd requote me otherwise it's just going to keep running at £85pm..

I might do it.. but I can't help thinking it's been a waste so far. Would love a new gearbox, not sure why there's nothing wrong with it..

I only have a 2.0 sports with 26k.miles but just got my payment details for next year.
Comprehensivie £100 excess with emergency service £39 per month or £427 For the year.
Comp with £100 excess and no emergency service £349.
Have been looking on the net but cannot get close to the BMW warranty.

With anything other than an M, you're daft not to just go with the BMW Insured Warranty - it's so cheap! On the M, it is more than double that!

I'm not going to warranty mine when the existing runs out, but if I did I would choose the middle BMW warranty with zero excess. My only real concern is the engine and transmission, but at £70 something a month feel it's better to put in my own warranty fund.

I did not extend the AUC warranty on my Z4MC this year. Cost was approx £800, or £75 a month, and given that last month it did 30 miles, I think that a £2/mile warranty is pricey! Annual mileage 3-4k I think.

I have an M roadster (25k miles) about to finish it's AUC warranty and have been sent the offer letter from BMW.

Given it's used daily i think i will go with it but, doing a bit of research both of the below links come in at about half the price.

Any views on these???
