What have you done to your car today?

Did the seat bolster mod today.

The passenger seat turned out great to sit in but not so great on the sides where the back cover ends. I've put some foam in there but I'll have to do it better.

The driver seat didn't turn out that great as the passenger seat considering the side support, however it looks better on the sides as I added more foam there.
I guess driver's original foam is worn more than passenger's one, giving a worse side support. It is also possible that adding more new foam to the sides pulled everything sideways and making the side support worse.
I'll have to try again with this seat as well.

It's not that bad of a job, the biggest PITA being removing the back cover. These clips are really stubborn to remove.
The leather is not that bad at all to take off and back on again. I didn't remove the leather cover away off the seat, I just moved it on the sides and on the bottom to gain some access.

The left (in the picture) seat done, look how it moved away from center console. And how the leather is not streched anymore. Seat on the right is not done yet here

Only had my E86 two weeks so:
  1. Removed the 'welded on' ally rear tyre valves
    1. Funny how having 20 psi can upset the handling and steering...
    2. I used the 'light flick with a blow torch' method after 30 mins of less 'nuclear' options - it worked immediately
    3. Now with 33PSi, better steering, better tracking and more confidence
    4. I took it for a good thrash and it's not bad at all
  2. Fitted cheap Bluetooth kit
    1. After 30 mins of swearing, slowed down, watched a decent video on YouTube and found the technique to remove the vents in about 10 seconds
    2. It pairs but won't play because I think it needs a CD in the multichanger
    3. I don't have a CD...
    4. It's not that - it's something wrong with Aux. Need to take it out again and see if pins are right - FML
  3. I'd previously removed both resonator sponges
    1. Cut one sponge in half and put it cabin end - for me, that's the sweet spot. Pretty quiet when tootling but nice noise over 4k
    2. Whilst I liked it without both sponges, it wasn't a great sound...
  4. Fitted ZHP gearknob
    1. Didn't punch myself in face
    2. Seems ZHP enables 'MX5 gear change mode' because it's sooo much better
  5. Fitted new grills
    1. Bought 'em off eBay for £30 - they're not good quality. The previously fitted OEM feel a lot better and fit better so I'm gonna spray the OEM ones (they were black but over chrome and the chrome was coming through) and try them
    2. In other news - For Sale. Top quality front grilles for E86... ;)
Was planning to do another round of headlight clensing and start the underbody treatment but apparently 'we have to' go to a BBQ. I'd be much happier getting covered in rust under my car all afternoon. And she says I'm 'sad'....

Next round is:

1. Another bout of detailing - first pass was poor
2. New BMW badges all round
3. Get rid of the locking wheel nuts - a disaster waiting to happen
