FOR SALE Thinking of selling 2003 3.0 SE Maldives Blue - What is it worth

For Sale
Hi All,

I thinking of selling my 2003 3.0SE in the fantastic Maldives blue. The car has only covered 66,000 miles and has been very well looked after with a good service history. It is not modified in anyway and was owned by a Red Bull F1 engineer before I bought it. Since I have had it I replaced all of the tyres recently and have probably only covered a few hundred miles since and serviced it etc.

The thing is I have no real idea what it is worth, so wondered what people on here think?

I hope this is allowed, but please let me know if this should be posted elsewhere.20220710_150814.jpg

If indeed in excellent condition with a full service history, with the summer months almost here, you could advertise it for £5k with a reasonable expectation of getting close to that. You might see some similar examples on eBay at fanciful prices, but they have been there a long time.

In fact I sold this similar car off the forum for close to the asking price, although I think the market has softened a little in the last couple of years.

Depending on service history, overall condition and options I would say a very early M54 3 litre E85 should be worth £3,000-4,000 of anyone's money.

If it is exceptional then £5k is not out of the question. The low mileage will definitely help value.

BUT......the car market has been on it's arse for at least two years and isn't going to get better anytime soon. Asking prices and selling prices can be world's apart. There are thousands of cars on the market where the sellers (including dealers) are in denial of what the market is like now. There is a very real 'cost of living crisis' (or whatever you want to call it), and a 23 year old Z4 is always going to be a summer 'toy' these days. How many people want to (or can) drop money on a toy is a question which can only be answered by testing the market. In my opinion.

Many thanks, that seems like a reasonable price. I agree that I have seen a number on other sites that just don't sell.

Agree with your points, there certainly seems to be a lot less spare cash around for what you quite rightly say are 'summer toys', which is a shame as these are great cars.

Hi. Are you planning to sell your z4? Where are you based?

What was the price for this?
Hi, the thread was to try and find out what it might be worth as I'm thinking of selling it. I will make my mind up very soon and place an advert on here with more details. But if you are interested I'm happy to have a chat to discuss further.

I really think low mileage on a 23 year old car is not that big of a factor considering brakes, motor mounts, bushings, alternator, AC and water pump, fuel pump, gear box & differential oils, shocks and gaskets will all need updating. From what I have read the motor is dependable up to 175m miles. So if all the above has been replaced I think it would be a good buy at 7,500 British. Value could be higher if you still had the stock wheels.

Look like stock 17” wheels for that period?

Funnily enough, in the UK at least, having “all the work done” doesn’t seem to make much of a difference to what people will pay for a car. Spending money on these things prior to sale will rarely give you a good return, although it’s usually worth remediating any cosmetic issues. Tatty Z4s are usually destined for the parts bin.

Personally I think it ought to be a good buy at 7,500 British, but the market is just not there at moment.

The wheels are stock, by the way, although they look to have been recoloured. Style 103 was the standard fit on the pre-LCI three litres.

The strangest thing is that a 'last off the line' same age Z3 roadster with the same engine and mileage would be commanding close to £10k. They are far worse cars yet comparatively worth more money. Car markets are very fickle things.
