What did you do to your Z4M today?

That explains why you have only occasional rubbing. Mine can give a very brief chirrup from the left rear, but only when running through exactly the right compression.
The oe arb must be quite soft at the rear! Are you running an aftermarket one?

Managed to pick up a set of the covers for when the roof is down to cover the gubbins. All clips intact, OEM bmw parts.

Hoping to get my buddy at Fiberworx to replicate them for me in pure carbon fibre.

Skyer image is to show where they go.

I could have saved some £ with the Skyer, but they don't guarantee fit, and I need a perfect set to make a carbon mold.

Posted elsewhere already, but I took mine for an MOT today and it passed with no advisories for the 6th time running. :D

I took it to Castle Combe a couple of weeks ago and as it was clean for once I took photos.

Next job will be new rear tyres as they are down to 3mm and I'm going to Scotland next month!
Now I know why you're Mr Tidy. She is absolute mint. 🤤

I'm not far from Combe. Not planning on taking mine on the track. But better good to do a meet up.

I'm actually just around the corner from Cheddar Gorge. (Under 5 mins away)

Why would I do that when you already have one?

But it became more worthless today when it failed an MOT. Just as well I didn't get it tested before going to Scotland.

It failed on corroded rear brake pipes which is possibly not surprising given it is now 19 years old and my previous Coupe needed them replacing at only 11 years of age.

But what has really pissed me off is that the same garage have given it a clean pass every year since 2020 with no advisories. It was even the same tester who passed it last year on 94K miles (and in 2022 and 2023) so I find it hard to believe that degree of corrosion has occurred in jut 6,000 miles. If it had got an advisory I would have had them replaced - my previous one had advisories 2 years running before I got them done!

Hopefully I'll be able to get them done in time for the National in July. 🤞

Hi mate, hope you're well. I can beat you mot frustrations.... Mine just failed on... Drum roll ... Licence plate lights..

5 min job back home and had to rebook and return and they actually wanted to charge me for a retest!

Couple weeks ago my wife had to stay in the office late, so I spent all day in the garage doing necessary maintanence. Only breaks were to use the bathroom and to eat. Had food delivered. It was a wonderful day haha.

Changed the spark plugs, diff fluid, transmission fluid, oil change, belt tensioners and the two belts.

Drove the car yesterday and it was great!

I suspect durable matt (or satin) black is probably still our best option for DIY steering wheel trim refurbs, but I’d be interested to hear of experience with actual “soft touch” products, e.g. this or this.
Use high build primer then satin black - it’s worth doing a satin lacquer too for durability.

I have done something I have wanted to for ages, fitted a front upper strut brace. A genuine factory one from an E46 M3 with the M top covers and nut caps.
It was a straight fit, really easy and not expensive (second hand obviously). Looking forward to testing it over the weekend.
Make sure you check the edge of the top plates as the rub on the bonnet if they are from the M3. You will need to file them a bit.

Drove her for the first time in about 13 billion years! I keep thinking about selling her but then………..

I have the been able to obtain the product used by BMW for the soft coats. I'll be doing mine in the next few weeks.

It involved having to buy a compressor and guns etc.. but still cheaper than paying £400 for a new set.

I already filed them off before fitting (read elsewhere on the internet). I did not take anywhere near the amount off those silver ones though, mine haven’t touched at all.
The plates had some bubbling under the powder coating so stripped it back and repainted and lacquered.

That looks stunning!
What a shape and that paint work looks immaculate

Thanks, it shines up pretty well for almost 84/85k but pictures hide a thousand sins!

Unfortunately it’s definitely not as mint as it looks in that picture. The upside of that is that I’m far less concerned with any little marks it picks up and I enjoy using it far more as a result.

I’ll see to those things one day but for now, it’s more for driving than admiring.
