What did you do to your Z4M today?

Your car is now completely worthless. Let me know if you’d like me to take it off your hands!
Why would I do that when you already have one?

But it became more worthless today when it failed an MOT. Just as well I didn't get it tested before going to Scotland.

It failed on corroded rear brake pipes which is possibly not surprising given it is now 19 years old and my previous Coupe needed them replacing at only 11 years of age.

But what has really pissed me off is that the same garage have given it a clean pass every year since 2020 with no advisories. It was even the same tester who passed it last year on 94K miles (and in 2022 and 2023) so I find it hard to believe that degree of corrosion has occurred in jut 6,000 miles. If it had got an advisory I would have had them replaced - my previous one had advisories 2 years running before I got them done!

Hopefully I'll be able to get them done in time for the National in July. 🤞

My rear hard lines have been mentioned the last couple of MOT’s. I had a good look whilst it was on the lift at MOT last month and they aren’t too bad yet. I’m still planning on doing them and fitting some braided hoses at the same time over winter.

That sums up my frustration nicely. They should never have gone from fine to excessively corroded in just a year and less than 6K miles. Tester was either a knob, given a target or got some new glasses. :headbang:

I think I'll be going elsewhere for my next MOT.

I 100% agree. They can’t go from no mention to buggered in one year (corrosion wise anyway). Hope you get them sorted soon.

Ah, but I don’t have one in the UK anymore and I’d quite like one to use for track days and honing when I’m back there.

My RS4 went from no advisories to failure for excessive play in the front suspension between two successive MoT tests that were separated by 12 months of dry storage and a few hundreds of miles of driving. I took it elsewhere and it passed.

I have done something I have wanted to for ages, fitted a front upper strut brace. A genuine factory one from an E46 M3 with the M top covers and nut caps.
It was a straight fit, really easy and not expensive (second hand obviously). Looking forward to testing it over the weekend.

MOT completed with no advisories. I took it for a spin for the first time in quite a while. After almost 10 years the Z4MC still makes me smile, a lot!

Got my aero skirts painted and fitted, and a Malc Buck btcc brake kit fitted too 😎 rather pleased with the result, although the car already needs a clean!

Here you are 😅

Sorry I've not got anything better, been flat out painting and sorting post garage loft conversion, and now the kids on half term! I'll hopefully get some pre-ring photos later in the week once it's had a bucket thrown over it!

Looks great - do you get any rubbing from the rears wheels?
Thanks! I still love the way it looks after nearly I years :)

As to rubbing a true rear - Only ever so slightly on stuff like the karrussel at the ring - the rear arches have been rolled a bit though.

The suspension is compressed on the drivers rear due to unven ground in front of the garage by the way.

That explains why you have only occasional rubbing. Mine can give a very brief chirrup from the left rear, but only when running through exactly the right compression.
