What have you done to your car today?

Seats were looking a little saggy and worn.

So I managed to stretch the leather to remove the creases and apply some fresh Imola red dye, after stripping off the original coating.

Just waiting 24 hours now, so I can apply a coat of satin clear leather sealant.

Need to do passenger side yet. Work in progress.

(I know the panel behind passenger seat is cracked - I have a new one to fit later).

Went to Derby to acquire some parts, I removed from a Z4 both front and rear wings, side skirts and front bumper.

Upon returning home,
The front left wing was installed on the 2.0 project

The front bumper was fitted to the Dark Knight project and the washer bottle was swapped out as I deleted the headlight washers.
The boot lid was also installed onto the Dark Knight project. The boot lits need further cosmetic work that I'd not considered until I saw it upon collection.

Pierburg water pump and mahle thermostat replaced. Looked like original WP & thermostat had never been replaced (119k).

Couple round of coolant top ups and bleed procedures.

Cleaned the roof with vinegar/water mixture to remove the algae scuzz.

Replaced the aluminium trim for wood trim, much better with the red leather seats.

Need to order a new bumper support trim to hold the bumper better.

Brakes are a bit spongy even after renewed brake fluid last year.

Tested the cruise control retrofit kit.

First time out properly this year with the roof down. Such a fab drive.

Got my hands on some brushed aluminium dash and centre console trim (and was surprised that it's actually metal) thanks to Martin, that I've wanted to replace the silver plastic poverty items in my car. Fitted the two upper pieces this evening, it looks like a proper faff to do the centre console so will wait for a free day to get that done.

Out of interest does anyone know what parts 24/25 are? I have them on my Coupe but not the Roadster. I could make a couple but wonder if it would be worth the effort.

Replaced the engine mounts on the coupe. The old ones were still in decent condition (for almost 20 years old), they were more of a preventative maintenance thing.

Replaced the differential input seal, stripped and cleaned the CV joints on the driveshaft, ready to regrease and replace the boots. And then painted the differential in rust converter

Also collected some parts thanks to a very generous act by @Umfaan and his friend, Jason (who maybe on here?). Thanks both!

I think they came via me in Sussex today where I sorted @jasecasecarr ’s airbag coding.

Nice job, what’s your technique for tightening up the leather?

Nice job, what’s your technique for tightening up the leather?
Heat gun low setting, circular motions, slow and steady, just let it build up heat gradually takes a solid 5-10 mins. Don't get too close or you'll burn it. Once it hits 100'C the leather tightens up and pulls out creases and sag. Once it's done, let it cool, then Repeat as they'll come back ever so.slight. once it's cooled, add some leather conditioner to keep the leather soft but tight.

Today I managed to remove my BBS alloys and put on some OEM Style 224M.wheels.

Also took my spare front disks to be skimmed and put away for later.

Next job, service diff, change both output sills.
Finish the leather.

Fit new OEM rear bumper (mine has a little filler in it - I don't like the thought of this!)

Swap out suspension springs

Ice blast underside

Powder coat subframes and braces

Re dye roof jet black

Then full respray in the OEM Carbon Black.

Just a couple of jobs left 😂
