Private buyer/enthusiast looking for a very low mileage collector quality Z4 E85, ideally a 3.0 but would also consider a 2.5 and preferably automatic but would consider a manual too if the car was otherwise perefect. Cash waiting and happy to pay the right price for a top quality example. Based in Shropshire but willing to travel anywhere for the right car. Many thanks.

A few years ago there was a very low mileage 3.0i advertised on here at what we all thought was a silly price but a new forum member bought it on the basis it was the nearest thing to a new Z4 he could find, which sort of made sense!

But he isn't looking for an M, and I'm not sure "willing to travel anywhere" includes the USA.

When you say low mileage....what are you thinking?
And when you say 'collector quality'....what do you mean by that?
Just interested, as everyone has their own ideas. A 90k miles car that is as rough as a badger's arse but has had a wipe over with a damp rag could be called low mileage and 'collector quality' by many dealers.
Collector quality is a thing within the concourse fraternity, ie, there’s a, I think, 3k mile RS 1600i up at 64k at the moment called collector quality, either basically all but brand new or better, or over restored to some that aren’t original.
It’s incredibly rare to see a Zed within this scope, as they have never had the same cudos as eg, RS Fords, so finding one will be very very difficult, and in reality once you use them the value drops like an EV. Of course if you want a garage queen that does 1k a year it’s obvs not as bad.

Yes mate, I am aware of the 'concept' but everyone has their own definition of what makes a 'collector's grade' car.
For me it would need to be sub 10k miles from new. Unrestored. Kept in a heated and humidity controlled garage. MOTed every year with no advisories or missing years. Serviced every year by a franchised dealer despite never being driven. Look like new inside and out. Every piece of paperwork available from new (no photocopies). And just one or two owners.
But my standards may be different to others'. Hence the question.
I don't think my idea of a 'collector quality' 'normal' E85 exists TBH. If it does I would imagine it would be so overpriced, no-one would want it. There is no Z4 model which is 'collectable' yet IMHO. If the OP wanted a clown shoe, or a C2 Alpina, or even an 'M' then they would find one (with a big enough wallet).
And the reason why 'fast Fords' are worth so much as 'collectables' is purely nostalgia. They were the cars the average teenager wanted in the '70s and '80s. Now those people are in their 50s and 60s and can afford them. Re-living their youth. E85s are not old enough to be in that category.

Nothing to do with me, but this could be interesting to follow.
So someone's bought a £32k roadster, put it away as an investment rather than drive it and now its up for £12k.
Not a shrewd investment, but they may well have enjoyed looking at it for 17 years.

Maybe 'collector quality' wasn't the best wording to use but I'm looking for the best example I can find and similar to the one Mr Tidy mentioned, basically something as close to 'as new' condition as I can find and with as low a mileage as possible but definitely under 30,000. I know there won't be many examples like that left but there will be some and I can wait.
Yes I've seen that one thanks. I could have been interested but the seller admits the bodywork is a bit neglected with various scratches and scuffs, and knowing what most traders are like I only image it's even worse than they describe when you actually see it! Thanks for the heads up though.
You're right they definitely do seem to find them from somewhere! I was actually planning on going to see the one they had but just missed out and it had already sold. For some reason KGF have a habit of leaving sold cars on their website long after they've been sold, they only took that car off this week but I know it sold in February.

I totally understand what you're saying John but there will be some out there somewhere and for me it would be pretty much a garage qheen if I'm honest.
I hope you find one Steve, I totally get the garage queen thing, it’s as much about owning something like that as driving it isn’t it.
