&#%@! Hood Emblem stolen/knocked off!

It looks very thick from the edges and the little dings that are still paint colour. You can get paint thickness sensors for not much money if you are bothered
:)

Why did you suggest that?
You just know he will get one now and spend a day measuring paint all round the car then posting the results and worrying about it 😋

It does look like it's had a bit of paint - but at the age of the car, many will have.

That kind of gap looks well within the adjustable kind of range - it's possible just the bumper trim needs loosening off & pushing back a bit.

Or maybe the bonnet isn't actually properly closed?

If neither of those, there is simple adjustment in the hoops to get the fit better.

Quick test - if you press down on the bonnet, does the gap close up? If so - just adjust the hoops (10mm spanner) / rubber bump stops (they twist in/out) & job done.

I've seen loads of these with a similar (horrible) panel fit - only if the above tweaks don;t get it looking right should you worry about accident damage IMHO. Front ends get repainted regular to cover stone chips - not always a big incident.

Not the end of the world.

I fitted BMW replacement it faded over 3 years.
So bought BMW badge that was stick on over the top.
Is this meant to sit in the 'plinth' recess? I ask because I need one too but it would need to be about 68 mm to sit in the depression. 70mm and it is the same circumference as the plinth. This is also for an E89.
Thanks.
