Well that didnt take long. Took my Z4 for a drive to RAF Northolt to see my military dentist, and either while it was parked there, or while it was parked on the Ruislip high street, looks like my hood emblem was either knocked off or stolen, as i didnt see it fly off during the ride, and it was there last night when I tucked it into the Garage....

And today, on arriving home. 🤬

Is this a "thing", do people seriously swipe these on the regular?....... And - where is the best source to find a replacement, if anyone else has dealt with this recently?

Thanks gents. I look forward to posting happier things instead of constant little issues 😂😂

It looks like the veneer has come away from the body of the badge, so I'd doubt it was actively stolen - more likely just the adhesive failed. You'll need to remove the silver part that is left before you can fit a new badge. There's loads on eBay, with questionable longevity :)

I live near Ruislip (probably in a 'worse' area) where every other car is a BMW. Badges are not stolen/missing.

Dare I say it... a compression test would have verified if the veneer was still well attached to the body of the badge.

Nobody is nicking them mate - looks like the original has finally given up the ghost.

You either replace it with an OEM equivalent from BMW for close to £50 or go down the non-OEM route and accept that you will be replacing it on a more frequent basis 👍

I’m not sure there’s a lot out there non-OEM in the right size (70mm). Don’t be tricked into an 82mm which are common. The OEMs are c.£50 from BMW, but Vertu Motors frequently have them for 20% off.

If you repurpose an emblem from another Z4, it's all good because it's all in the family.

I give great free advice. Ask me anything.

Also wheel caps.
Buy the cheap tin plate ones and spray lacquer them.
Tried all sorts over the years, all faded, rusted, let water in.
These cheap ones rust if you don't lacquer them.
Mine lasted a couple of winters and still like new.

I think i spray lacquered the 70mm badge.

I like it.

Takes your eye away from the panel gap :)
You've noticed! I did too, been reading a bit on it. I most notice it around the headlights.

I'm guessing this isn't normal. The car wasnt listed with any previous damage or bumps. Sounds like the panels can be adjusted but its a bit of a pain?

It looks very thick from the edges and the little dings that are still paint colour. You can get paint thickness sensors for not much money if you are bothered
:)

Yes panel gaps around lamps, right pain to adjust.
Some years ago i bought some chrome trim from Korea that goes around the lamps and hide the gaps.
But just looked like after market chavvy.
I tried searching again to try and find and this came up...........?
