E89 Roof Problems - Code A696 - Guidance Required

When I had this code which was triggered when driving it reported rear end module open. It was the right hand micro switch behind the hinge. Very easy to swap. However they are now £100 each.

I had also changed both hall sensors prior. Just make sure you mark the three bolt holes for the hinge mech. I used a soldering iron to heat up the retaining screw which softened loctite. 30 mins per side

If the package stops late anywhere in between, the 2 hall sensors on the right ram should be replaced.

If the roof doesn't continue to move directly after the trunk lid frame has lowered and should be locked, one of thes 2 microswitches is buggy.

Nevertheless ,
replacing these parts in advance will effectivly avoid these stressy situations:

Agreed. He states the codes return after a drive. Which suggests car thinks the rear end module is open. Usually it triggers the gong when you are driving too.
