Bloody iPhone 3GS!!! Grrrr!

I know there are tonnes of topics about bluetooth and the iPhone but none of them seem to solve my issue.

My Car : 2006 Z4M Roadster + Logic 7 and Nav.

My Phone : iPhone 3GS

My last phone was an iPhone 2G and that synced first time with no problems at all.
I have tried completely resetting the phone (removing any trace of previous bluetooth devices), I have also tried removing all registered devices from the car but it still sits at the "Activate Phone" stage and the phone never picks up an active bluetooth device. Are they simply incompatible? I find this strange as I've read posts from people with a car of similar age to mine and an iPhone 3G working fine!

Have you tried looking at the Apple side of life rather than the Z4? Try this discussion forum and see if anyone has covered it there. If not, ask the question yourself. The forum is hosted by Apple themselves so you should get a sensible answer. There are a lot of threads that suggest that the version 3 software can cause bluetooth problems.
