Hi guys
i am using autosmart wax at the moment but it's leaving a white residue on the fubber trim thats a pain to remove
i have been told it could be carnauba but i'm not sure
i can't be arsed masking it all off lol so was wondering if you guys have had the same problem and if so whats the best wax for the job

Cheers

Which Autosmart product ? I have a few , their platinum carnuba leaves residue but the Topaz is a great all rounder for paint , seals & lights that leaves no residue

Carlack Long Life is the best wax I've used. It's an acrylic and left nothing behind on mine.
I hear Bilt Hamber Double Speed Wax is good too.

This place is a good place to look, cheaper than you'll find almost anywhere. They have tips and advice depending on your paint type, colour, ease of use etc. under their car care advice section too. http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/carlack-car-care-and-detailing-products.html

For wax Bilt Hamber Double Speed is grey value for money and great performance.

I have recently started using Gyeon Wet Coat, much easier for winter.

It doesn't matter what wax you have as most will leave white residue on rubber or plastic trim etc. You just need to be more careful when applying it to the paintwork. You don't need masking tape just apply your wax thinly and evenly and stop shy of any rubber or plastic and it will look much better. A little tar and glue remover (solvent) on a cloth will usually remove any residue left behind.

another thumbs up for Autosmart topaz
its so easy to use and works great on all surfaces

if you're anywhere near Norwich pop over and I 'll give you a jar full to try

Thanks for all the replies the autosmart wax i have been using is the had wax in the tub just called wax i have used topax before but have run out
i think i'll give the speed wax a go as i can grab some from halfords
and patriot your right i'm a bit slap dash appling lol
and gaffa thanks very much for the offer but i'm a bit of a distance from you in chorley

Bilt hamber is good but always keep in mind that with wax, less is more. Apply it very thin on the paintwork. Do it too thick and you'll reduce the performance as it'll take ages to cure and also make your life a hell trying to buff it. Also, avoid all trim, just be more careful around rubber etc.

I use 2 waxes, Auto Glym HD and Dodo Juice Blue Velvet. Both can leave a white Mark on rubber but i normally just use masking tape on the rubber bits.

Auto Glym tar remover is excellent at cleaning the window rubbers.

It does look like a much better fitting than on mine which I guess reflects the price difference. It otherwise looks like it would work the same though.

Well that’s weird. Not sure what has happened!
That was supposed to be a reply on a wind deflector thread...

I thought so!! Bizarre... It was so in fitting with the conversation on FB and absolutely nothing to do with this topic I thought I must be going mad, it's got to be just an eerie coincidence.... then I saw the username pretty much matched up too... what are the odds on that!?

I'm the guy with the windrestrictor! Nice to see you're a fellow forum member, now if you could only use those powers for good there's got to be a gap in the super hero market for a guy that can track you down any place anywhere to have the final say  :P
