Retrofitting facelift xenons to a pre facelift halogen car.

Yes, it wasn't working until I recoded the LCM.

That's useful to know. All the posts I have seen on this topic did what I did and went from pre xenon to post xenon. I guess it will be useful to folks considering this to know the flash to pass with lights off is also an issue going from pre halogen to post xenon. I imagine it's also an issue going from post halogen to post xenon as the pre and post halogens are interchangeable.

Its also interesting to note your pre LCM recoded and worked. I was under the impression you had to have a post unit and recode that.

Nice work.

Didn't split mine, that's the next step! Were your's a pita?

No not at all. I carefully dremmelled them open using a fine blade wheel that Ranski kindly gave me. I bonded them back together with black 'FixAll' ('Soudal' i think make it) which is a fabulous product I had from my local plastic fascia supplier. Let it all squeeze slightly out of the joint then once dried trimmed with a blade....cant tell they've been opened. Just wish I'd concentrated a bit more on the inside :headbang:

TBH, I had my breaker m8 confirm he had a post LCM ready for me, in case I bricked mine. The actual coding is about a 15 min process, during which all of the "personalisations" I had coded were lost, as the unit was reset back to factory. Interestingly, if you look at the pic above of when I did it, it appears to have rewritten the "vehicle order" info, so I'm assuming now that if plugged in at BMW, it will show as having the xenons fitted from day 1.
