Retrofitting MFSW

Hi Guys,

I’ve recently bought a 3.0 e85 z4, however it did not come with the steering wheel buttons for the radio etc. I was wondering if I am able to retro fit these, preferably using a Z4M wheel. Is there a wiring kit needed?

Any other upgrade/mod suggestions would be greatly appreciated, it’s bone stock!

Cheers

Inkey$ did that, and it did require a wiring kit. I don't think he actually got it working as far as I remember but check his thread on this.

Depending on manufacture year/month . Before October 2003 it will not work ..BUT...it is only a 2 wire modification if not. Thereafter this date it is Plug and Play. To tell if the 2 wire mod has been done you need to remove the Steering wheel and check the Green plug at the bottom side, if there are wires in pins 9/10. (Its a 10 wire Plug ). The 2 wire mod can be bought on Ebay ( Google MFSW modification ). The 2 wire cable terminates on the Loom of the LCI Module ( Light Switch )

Yes fairly straight forward ...when was you car manufactured ( check the date stamp in the engine compartment .
No Clock Spring .

Possibly had other issues . i have done this mod twice recently and both times worked . Both cars early 2003.
You need to check the wiring is all there in the MFSW , but that is normally standard.

I installed MFSW on my early 2003 (11/2002 build date) and it did NOT have the wiring. It was still an easy install.
