As per title really.

During the summer I was desperate for a pair of rear clears. One night found a brand new set on the German fleabay, not wanting to hang round I hit the buy it now.

They appeared a few days later and I fitted them. Once fitted they looked great, albeit I noticed the "white" light had shifted from one side to the other side. I summised the reversing light would now be the fog and vice versa.

Anyway 6 months on theyre still fitted. I intend to either get a proper NS light from the dealer to recover the reversing light and then fit a red bulb in the NS light to act as a fog light. This way I'll have two whites, which'll be alright. :poke:

In the mean time, while I decide whether to keep the car or not, thought I'd see what the car would look like with two whites and then two reds....

Added a new one......really like this look, just a shame there's no fog light!

IMO, the two reds look great, but the loss of the reversing light would be a pain. So its either two whites or bin the car off before MOT time.....hmmmm.

As I've PS the pics thought I'd post them to gauge opinioins of the lights. Anyone want to swap a clear NS German tail light for a uk one?

2 reds looks best IMO. Bugger about the reversing light - just wondering if there's a way around it? Although would probably involve modifying/tinting the left-hand clear one so that it looks red but still shines white?

I agree about 2 reds looking best too, and how useful is the reversing light anyway? I'd have 2 reds and have a spare unit to switch over at MOT time.

Agree with the majority, the reds do indeed improve the look of the car.

Anyone want the above NS light (left- Red) light in exchange for a white one?

Think the tail lights would look so much better plain red no other colour.

Thinking of getting rid of the car ? any replacement in mind ?

The usual suspects. I always promised myself a Boxster, but I do like the new Audi TT-S, I also fancy a BMW 335cd.

Problem being the market for our cars, as well publicised, is on its arse and the gap to stretch to one of the above (on the basis it will be probably be new) is ever widening.

I'm getting pi55ed with the car due to its crappy fuel economy, albeit IMO there is nothing that looks as individual on the road and I do like the facelift headlights which I reckon brings the looks of the car bang up to date.

Up and down with the idea of change, we'll see. Suppose I better also wait for the new Z4 arrival, but the TT-S has got me by the nuts at the moment and I really like them. So the moral of this story is, we'll see..... :headbang:

DannyBoy, even though the value of your car is dropping fast, if you're trading up then the cost to change should be no more than it was previously, and in most cases should be much less.

TTS is a great car but it will be no better on fuel than the Z4, and the 335d is a nice car, but I wouldn't touch a new car with a bargepole for the next year or so at least. All cars in this bracket currently seem to be losing minimum 50% in the first 2 years, you can get 25% off an E9x M3 that's sat in the showroom all it's life.

Crazy. And IMHO there's never a better time to change upwards (for a nearly new car, say 12 months old or so) than in the next 6 months.

Yes but not without a lot of work inc bumper change, LCM reprogram, and extra loom installation. You have a facelift Z already?

I have just realised their shapes are different.

I have just ordered the a kit from the German Ebay site, it has come with clear 3rd Brake light, clear side repeaters (with new roundells) and the reverse \ foglight the wrong way round as per this picture (about £200 inc P&P).

Anyway I have gone down the route of ordering the correct reversing light from my local Stealer (£108) and plan to fit a Chrome Red Lamp into the Foglight to end up with this.

So if anyone with the correct lights for a UK car but would like to look like this

3-5.jpg

Drop me a PM with an offer for the now spare light and see if we can sort something out, C'mon CJ10jeeper you know that symmetrical look since doing the quad conversion.

I guess it depends upon whether a reversing light is a legal requirement, but the length of time it takes to change at MOT time, could be worth it for someone.

Edit, just found this reversing light not tested so can only assume it's not a legal requirement.

Do you know if you can get a single German spec rear light with the clear lense from a dealer over here what with being in the EU and all that now? Personally I already have the clear roundels and 3rd brake light so the Ebay kit would contain a lot of kit I don't need.
