Derry's Black Saphire 3.0i

Yep, they look exactly like mine. Did you get them from euro carparts and did they use your reg number for spec on the zed?

Just to add that now i have been on a long drive i really can tell the difference. The zed feels a lot smoother and acceleration is now instant, before i had a slight hesitation and very slightly lumpy going through the rev range.

I know yours is a proper zed with 6 pots as opposed to my minimal 4  but i hope you can tell the difference with the new packs like i have. Cheers Derry.

Appreciate it again tug, no I waited for the ones off flea bay, wasn't sure weather the originals or the bosch that were half grey.

Will fit them tomorrow hopefully if my platinum bosch +4 plugs arrive

Regards

Looking forward to see if the new plugs and packs work and sort the idle prob you've got at the minute mate, sure it will, it did for me.

So put in the uprated bosch coils and also some platinum bosch +4's plugs

Aaaaannnnnnnddddddd....

Its still lumpy as f**k and missing all the time!!!!

I absolutely hate this car!!!

Strange the car pulls great and holds revs fine but on idle it shakes like crazy on idle....I am positive it is HGF!

No matter how many people tell me these engines aren't know for it, my useless lemon deffinetly has it!!

Sorry to hear that mate, i would be so pi$$ed off also, but perhaps someone here could help you out with an answer to the prob or get a good indie to have a look. Hope you can get to the bottom of it soon for you. Cheers, tug. :(

Just had a thought, what about the MAF! might need cleaning mate.

Yeah, cleaned it with some maf cleaner i had from when i had the RX-8.

Ran well for all of 5 minutes. :@ so frustrating!!

Derry, is this R3AP4R's old car? If so, you've probably read through all his old threads? He seems to have used Darren Wood in Stockport to chase through the issues he was having - maybe worth taking it back there as they are familiar with the car and might have some idea where to look?

It is, i hadn't looked into it as the car didn't miss a beat for the first 3 weeks of ownership.

But since then the gremlins are all over, i have spoke to my local indy, he thinks its a breather problem.

Will have a look at the old posts then get another look at whats going on.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Regards

So it turned out to be the inlet manifold regulator unit, the flap had dropped and lost all power.

Replaced with genuine bmw part cost me £283 from my indy.

I decided to detail her over the weekend, hoping if i give her some love she will return the favour and drive right.

Good to hear you got to the bottom of it and hope it's driving ok now? There's nothing worse than chasing problems through and feeling like you're throwing good money after bad. Given what the previous owner spent, fingers crossed you're set for some trouble free motoring for a good while. Nice looking MG by the way!

Great news mate, glad you finally got to the bottom of the problem. A lot less than a new head gasket i dare say. Zed still looking great, its a credit to you.

Cheers.

I think they are off an e86...the colour doesn't match the door handle, window operation surround or speaker surround, but still a big improvement

THere are two type available, standard and chromeline. Nothing to do with E85/E86 just trim level. Chromeline is standard on facelift si models from memory.

Thanks for the encouragement! I think i will persevere as i have wanted a zed for 4 years and have finally got one that looks the part just hope she continues to drive the part too.

Thanks for the info, I prefer the shinier stuff however i am thinking of having the velour taken off the dash and having the whole interior parts redone in piano black.
Also want to get my tails tinted with the red tint film.

Will need to do some saving though as buying the car and the repairs have wiped me out!

Onwards and upwards guys! :driving: :driving: :driving:
