I have had two quotes of over £300 to fit H&R lowering Springs to my M. I'm guessing this is the going rate, do you agree?

Sounds a lot to me !! The rear springs are easy to do, 15mins aside the front legs will need to be removed and then a spring compressor used to take off and refit the new springs, still not really a hard job shouldn't take more than a couple of hours

Don't even need spring compressors, done mine without removing the shock. Pretty easy job if you follow the guides on here. Price £000

Doubtful, impossible to not remove the front shocks if changing the springs.

Just got an explanation for the £300 price;

Regrettably that spring install cost was labour only ...its about 4 hrs work when done correctly and carefully. :thumbsdown:

Fact I done mine like that.!! I'll try and find the link I followed

Can't find the link.

Fronts. With the car jacked up put another jack under the shock.
Removed the sway bar link where it joins the shock.
Removed the three bolts at the top of the shock.
Undone the large nut on the top of the shock.
Let the jack down under the shock.
Now you can pull the shock and spring away from the wheel arch, it's tight but will come.
Old spring off new one on and line up the shock and jack back up into place. It's a bit of a faff lining everything up but is still easy.
Rebolt everything up.
No compressors needed :thumbsup: :thumbsup:

Thats a decent price. My hunter wheel alignment was £120 (although it was included in a deal with some polybushes, so worked out cheaper).

Luckily I have a very handy dad who will get his hands dirty with anything from car parts to house extensions, so all it cost me was £20 from his mate to compress the new springs onto the shocks as I couldn't compress them enough by hand.
