Off for a few days holiday late Monday, but the car wasnt drivable. Undertray had dropped to the ground! Used a couple of luggage bungees (elastics with hooks on each end) to hold it up and drove slowly to Rubrook BMW Worcester. Spoke to bodyshop manager who identified that with two clips (where bumper joins front wings), a handful of blind rivets and a plastic clip from the bottom of the radiator and a bit of a bodge to reconnect undertray to bumper, the original mounting points had been ripped out, the bumper could be refitted. None of the parts were in stores but arrived by 2:30 pm! The car will be roadworthy either lunchtime tomorrow, Saturday, or Monday morning. The paint damage obviously wont be fixed but I'll be able to get away as planned.
I have had a couple of small(ish) jobs done in the body shop so knew the manager a little which must have helped but I consider thats damn good service.
If you've got a good local dealer they are often worth the high prices for labour etc, then access to a good indy for the bigger jobs and a local mechanic for the simple stuff, oil changes etc, you've got it made. And I'm delighted to say I have.
Thanks for all the supportive comments on here much appreciated when you've got an attack of the glooms!
Thanks Guys Norman
