I've had one of the KN filters you refer to on my Z for about 3 years. I cant say that it made that much of a difference to noise and performance. What I can say is, you get to clean and re oil it periodically.

I've got set of OEM plus a set of Mcgard. As already said, they are a deterrent nothing else, just to keep the local chavs at bay. If a thief is determined they will have them.

I can get 22 -25 town driving. Anything from 35 - 42 on a long run, keeping within sensible limits of course.

Mine snapped off, had if fixed under warranty. I avoid using these washers because of this weakness, and they don't seem to wash very well either. When lights are on, I flick the washer stalk enough to spray the windscreen, but not enough to activate the headlight washers.

I take your point. However I consider in my case, replacing the rear springs twice in under 40k miles to be excessive, and judging by the amount of debate on this particular thread, plenty of people agree.

Both springs fractured, being replaced for the second time in the cars life, otherwise MOT fail. Not bad for just under 40k miles!!!! BMW still refusing to acknowledge that this is an issue with a large number of our Z's.
