Well considering first the bonnet hasn't popped up which it would if it triggered from a bump, and second it'd intermittent I too am hoping it's a fault under warranty and not a bump. There is zero evidence of a bump nothing at all.

Look at it another way, a 245bhp engine in a 1500kgs car that can accelerate from 0-62 in 5.6second and hit 155mph (limited), is also capable of averaging 40mpg on the motorway at a steady 70mph. Now that's a special bit of engineering.

It depends on how and where you drive. It's possible to get high 30s even low 40s on the motorway with cruise control. I even got my range computer to say 447miles when I filled up last week which means I was averaging 40.6mpg just before I filled up.

Good point not worth the police's time and expense for what would be a speeding ticket at best. The insurance company might take a different view to try and stop the large payout....
