I know you've been to BMW, but I wouldn't take their advice.... Symptoms you describe I had as well. The rear sensor if you hit a bump goes over centre, so the system thinks the car has an elephant in the boot. When you hit another bump it may flip back over and the headlamps are fine again...

Ditto. My 28i did it. And agree with Tim. Overall the engine did sound like a bag of bolts. The buzzing tended to be an off throttle/light throttle buzz. Add in the driveline shunt (manual) and it was a really, really annoying car in traffic. A shame cos the engine sounded pretty decent when...

Front brakes are certainly larger on the 28i. Parked next to a 20i a few weeks ago. Not sure about the rear brakes. PS - am a lurker now as the 28i has gone.

Mine was only needed for 1 day, which I believe is to install a locking ring. Downside is there is now a distinct smell of hot burnt oil, and what looks like a small leak on the cam cover gasket near the exhaust manifold :headbang: So it probably needs to go back.
