Many thanks for the insights guys, most appreciated. The manual gearbox on the 35i sounds exactly what I'm looking for. My wife has a scirocco with the DSG box and whilst it brilliant around town, it does leave me wanting when on a spirited drive :driving:

Evening chaps. I'm looking to buy a 35i as a second car for the weekends and also to do a 3 week European road trip with the wife this summer. I'll do a max of 5k miles a year so was thinking the manual gearbox will be the better choice as it's always more involving and the benefits of the DCT...

I've got a test drive booked with a 35is tomorrow, so I'll report back with my views. The one in the link above looks interesting, but not sure if the white is too 'pimpin' for me? Also, are those black gloss alloys an optional BMW extra, or has the guy had them refurbished in that colour?

Thanks for the initial views. Yep, I think it's just a case of finding a dealer close by who has the cars in stock to test drive. The 35i does seem like better value, but it's just a case of finding an M Sport one in a decent colour. All of the one's around £20k seem to be lower spec cars. I'll...
