    Coupe ownership.......is this normal????

    We've had our E86 for 13 years now. It hasn't seen much use in that but we've never had a good enough reason to sell it. Wifey has had a couple of rag-tops (Mini & 2-Series) in that time but in the end they just became a pain, although the climate here in the West of Scotland didn't help!

    Speak as I find ....bba -reman

    I once bought a power steering pump for a mini from them. It was an absolute bar steward to fit and then lasted about 4 months and I ended up paying BMW to fit a new one. To their credit, bba-reman did provide a full refund for the part, but I got the impression that it hadn't been overhauled...

    Go for 6 months. You can always Sorn it in October/November and get a refund for the unused months.

    Looks like the kind of damage Pine Martens cause. They are very prevalent in mainland Europe, Canada and northern parts of the US. We had similar damage to the insulation on underside of a 2 Series bonnet when we were living in Luxembourg.

    What values? Is it a variation in compression pressures? If so, worn valve guides is a red herring!

    Hose eaten by rodents(?)

    We had a simiar problem with a 2 series when we lived in Luxembourg when rodents made a meal of the insulation on the underside of the bonnet. It was apparently caused by Pine Martens. They are common in mainland Europe but less so in the UK. Further info here...

    I've just bought a pair of Goodyear Eagles for the front of mine and Halfords were a lot cheaper than anywhere else for the same tyre, albeit with their current 10% discount.

    Front Suspension Arms

    I fitted Meyle control arms, front drop links and front ARB bushes as well as new rear springs over the winter. That has cured the tramlining so far... I'm running on 18" rims with 225/40 front and 255/35 rear tyres.

    Same here, just done my coolant pump and thermostat. £20.79 for 5 litres of concentrate from Amazon.
