    2003 2.2 Z4 hunting/missfire issues (video)

Smoke test complete and nothing! Motor is so well sealed I was surprised how much pressure it could take. Hand pump almost became solid and the first thing to show an issue was oil leaking out the crankcase/dipstick tube seal but it took quite an effort.

    2003 2.2 Z4 hunting/missfire issues (video)

Just carried out a compression test. All 6 cylinders reading 210psi. Appreciate its an old tester but the cylinders reading exactly the same rules out a cylinder down.

    2003 2.2 Z4 hunting/missfire issues (video)

Managed to get a couple fault codes to pop up on the way back from the MOT. PO151 and PO154 which very much is pointing to a vacuum leak. Hope to try a smoke test on it this weekend.

    2003 2.2 Z4 hunting/missfire issues (video)

New MAF fitted and it's no better. Below 2k rpm it's running pretty bad with the car lurching. Above 2k it's running as sweet as It's booked in for it's MOT today so will see how that goes. I am planning to pressurise the inlet manifold system this weekend and listen for leaks.

    2003 2.2 Z4 hunting/missfire issues (video)

Thanks for the replies. 100% sure there are no fault codes - it was scanned using the latest snap on code reader. I ordered a new MAF sensor last night, it's wasn't too pricey at all. Admit I have looked all over the inlet manifold side but no once at the brake vacuum side so I'll try the...

    2003 2.2 Z4 hunting/missfire issues (video)

Hoping to get the Z4 back on the road this week but this hunting/missfire issue is giving me grief. No fault codes, replaced all plugs and coils this week which has made an improvement but its still not 100%. Here's footage of it starting from cold:- https://youtu.be/uudQZL7wFOc

Hunting and flat spot off of idle.

I own a 2003 Z4 2.2. It was put off road back in 2015 because I was working away from home etc. On removing it from stowage a few weeks back - It was running pretty crap all in. I started to work through the issues, new plugs, intake rubber boot, oil flush and change, air filter change. These...

    Front Suspension Torque Settings

Decided to refresh the suspension on the z4. After snapping a front spring and noticing the suspension general condition - a Bilstein B12 kit and Eibach springs was seen as a suitable replacement for the standard and almost 12 year old set up. I refitted the front sub-frame yesterday after...

    Squeak/whistle on idle

Flexi hose just before the inlet manifold. It's approx 3" diameter, it's in the shape of a 90 degree elbow and fitted with a small bore take off. Check for cracks around this take off - it's a common fault, sounds as described and an easy fix.

    Spend £800 - Just saved myself £10000!!!

Despite owning the Z-4 for approx 4 years - I admit I have never got on with the thing. Hate the way it tramlines and harshness. These could be the reason it's only covered 12k miles in the time I have owned it. Decided its time to move it on so thinking add £10000 to the pot plus the price I...

    Sold!

Typical - silver and I would take it off your hands. £250 to get the thing painted is a bummer. Just down the road from you also:-(

2004 Z4 2.2 SE with 43000 Miles and full BMWSH

The 911 is a keeper I'm afraid. Despite being hard work - the way it spits out flames on the over-ride always brings a smile. I'm just about to pull the engine out of it due to a broken head stud, reckon it'll keep me busy through the winter. Must be a rare thing today - a car thats easy to work...

2004 Z4 2.2 SE with 43000 Miles and full BMWSH

BMW Z4 2.2I SE in SILVER for Sale Decided to sell my Z4 - Due to work commitments, the thing is hardly getting used. The car is a 2004 2.2 SE, it is sitting with 43000 miles on the clock and the service indicator saying it’s not due a visit to the dealer for another 12000 miles. Car comes with a...

    BMW Dealer Service Prices

I have no trust in my local main BMW dealer at all. As far as servicing goes, I let them do an annual oil change and everything else I do myself and keep all receipts. I mean £390 to change the plugs and the air/pollen filters - get a grip! £60 in parts and less than an hours work. The thought...
