I checked that the woman in servicing knew I was talking about an M, and 3k was the figure mentioned. I rarely feel 100% reassured by the information I receive from them though, hence asking here. I should get it back to the UK and to a dealer within -1k.

I spoke to warranty services earlier and they said it's up to the dealer. Dealer says 3k miles (although not recommended), so I'll take them at their word. I'll get it sorted as soon as I get back.
