From Pondys post about those we have lost (sorry in my 18 months here, I did not have the pleasure of knowing them)
Time passes so quickly and the older you get the faster it seems to go.
As RONK said ,”don’t worry about wasting money, worry about wasting time.”
I need to apply this to my E39...
Thanks Pondy. Like I have said before, you have the skills and drive to create your stunning freelitre/250 and it is a credit to you, so I value your opinion. If only I had the double garage that I have coveted all my life, things would have been so different. I really dreamed of having a smooth...
Yes, I am seriously considering that. This garage needs to be recognised officially for poor service.
No I didn't. Other people suggested that. Unfortunately by debit card.
Lessons have been learnt the very hard way.
Thanks matsmith.
Three fuses 44 56 58 okay
OBD port.
Pin 4 and 5 are gnd. They are okay
Pin 16 power. No voltage! It is a red/bk cable
I shall look at fuses.
Fault found.
Red/bk in fuse panel (25 radio/instruments.) was blown.
Replaced with another 7.5A, OBD working now.
Now I don't have any power to my OBD port since returning from BMG garage so code readers will not work!
Fault found.
Fuses for OBD 44, 56, 58 are fine
Pin 16 had no supply. It is a red/bk cable.
Red/bk in fuse panel (25 radio/instruments.) was blown.
Replaced with another 7.5A, OBD working now.
Sorry this applies to my old 5 series.
I have just got my car E39 back from the most inept garage ( see https://z4-forum.com/threads/engine-rebuild-by-specialist-has-turned-into-disaster-your-opinions-welcome.157796/).
Now I have no power to any of my four OBD code readers!
I have just checked...
Me neither, Clive. But when your engine is in pieces all over a workshop and your car is immobile, it is very difficult to move it to a safe place elsewhere.
Well, you aren't the first to say that. I wish that I spoke to more people before I went through this year of stress and time. Oh and a lot of money. I have learnt my lesson now.
Well here goes. Collected my car last Tuesday and am even more annoyed. After waiting months for my engine undertray to be replaced , I get some tiny cheap ebay part that only covers the radiator not the sump or steering. (better images to follow).
The garage's response to my concerns are...
My system has tiny leak that BMW "specialist “couldn't locate after two hours. I was losing cold air after 6 months.
My Z4 was regassed with a leak sealant last week by Refrigerant specialist /aircon guy. 50/50 chance of this sealing. He told me there are cheap replaceable O rings in the...
So met garage owner yesterday after sending firm and detailed email of all problems and concerns and a request to rectify FOC.
His response was polite and friendly and knowledgeable, but 5 mins after leaving I felt fooled.
No specific explanation of recommendation that the rebuilt engine...
This is the garage owners response:
Hi Lee
Andy (owner mechanic) has asked if you can come in and see him next week either Wednesday or Friday to suit you to discuss.
So not going to see my car for another week!
I have just spent a few minutes talking to Lee at Barum Engines, North Devon
https://www.barumenginesltd.com/contact
Who was extremely helpful, patient and knowledgeable. In short he has concerns, particularly after 5000 miles and one year (out of warranty) and strongly suggested that I write...
Yes I agree, Mike. I try to do as much on cars as my old, broken body can manage, as I simply don't trust garages to do a "quality" job. But my BMW is 25 years old and relatively simple compared with a new 7 series, nevertheless they cannot even get the basics right.
