    Roof shell 2

Hi Robbie Thanks for your reply. I’ve rewired the roof harness on both sides and replaced the 2 microswitches in the boot. Roof shell 2 refitted with existing bolts and new thread lock. Everything working perfectly now. Took a couple of days and a lot of patience but now I have a fully...

    Roof shell 2

Hi all. I’m replacing the wiring for the roof and have removed roof shell 2. Robbiez4 posted previously not to reuse the bolts holding the roof to the mechanism. Is there any particular reason for this as I propose to reuse them by cleaning the threads and using new thread lock on them. Look...

    Replacement roof wiring

Thank you guys for the replies. In the table below the columns from left to right are as follows gauge, colour, outer diameter, wire diameter, maximum current, strand diameter, number of strands. I am thinking the 22 or 24 gauge are the best options. Do you agree!

    Replacement roof wiring

Hi - I’m going to replace the wiring in the e89 roof to rid the car of the recurring roof problems. I have researched it all but can’t find a definitive post about the best type of flexible wiring to use ie the diameter and type (possibly LifY wiring). Any guidance greatly appreciated. Based in...

    Radio

Since I’ve owned my e89 the radio only works on fm. I’ve tried different bmw radios and still the same problem. I thought the diversity module had got wet in the boot so just changed that and still the same. I am guessing it’s the antenna. I can get the aerial off but cannot find a way to get...

    Roof issue

Thanks flybobbie When you say take out ‘the two pairs’ what do you mean by this? Do you mean both wires to the two hall sensors in the right hand hydraulic rams? Thanks again.

    Roof issue

Hi all Got an A68C roof issue which refers to roof shell 2 packed. I be replaced the hall sensor and checked the hall sensor wires back to the control unit for continuity and that is all fine. The roof tries to open and the rear window lifts up about 6 inches and then keeps trying to go further...

    Roof issue

Thanks for the reply. The scanner says it’s the hall sensor shell 2 roof packed. I got the roof to close somehow so I can get in the boot now. I will need to manually raise shell 2 tomorrow to get at the wires as I also think this is a broken wire fault. Not too sure how to manually lift the...

    Roof issue

Thanks for all the advice. I will get the boot open as described and I have an OBD scanner coming today so hopefully that will highlight which sensor is faulty and go from there. Cheers

    Radio antenna

Hi B21 and thank you for your reply which has helped me a lot in trying to identify why AM is not working on the BMW Professional radio. I disconnected the antenna base cables and also the wire to the amplifier shown in your picture. When reconnecting either wire in isolation FM still works, so...
