    Track Day Recommendations & Help

Tech inspection is pretty standard here. Some clubs like Porsche Club and BMW CCA will even point you to a list of pre-approved shops. And then on the morning of, you have to go through a lite inspection at the paddock where they do one final check on functioning brake lights, brake pad...

    3D printing fender liners

I've posted this before but the cheap generic $20 liners work fine. They're thinner and therefore less rigid compared to oem but they get the job done. And if you really want, you can double stack them although that makes the fitment little tougher.

    Liqui Moly Motor Oil Saver

One of these things where you can’t really know for sure if it works or not. Best case it does, worst case you burned few bucks on glorified snake oil. But I would not use this to remedy an oil leak if that’s what you’re asking.

    Track Day Recommendations & Help

Zimmerman plain face rotors are fine. Nice thing about FCP of course is the free lifetime replacement policy, though shipping rotors back can significantly eat into your savings. Most track day organizers will provide you a tech inspection sheet which will cover all the items that need to be...

    3002 tii’s Track Day Journal

In the past year I’ve come around to the idea of trailering the Z4. While car is still comfortable enough to drive to/from the track, the truth is trailering makes things a lot easier. For one, I limit wear n tear on the car. Two, I can run slicks or bring a 2nd set of tires. And three, in the...

    3002 tii’s Track Day Journal

Been a minute since my last update, but there just hasn’t been much opportunity to get on track. Barely got my car ready in time for my annual trip to Watkins Glen, where I’d see my friends, some of whom brought new toys, including a CTS-V BW, G80 M3 and 991.2 GT3. Like most race tracks with...

What did you do to your Z4M today?

    1. Serviced the wiper motor 2. Finally managed to get all the air out of my brake lines on the 2nd flush attempt. 3. Fitting new tires for track duty

    Wheel Fitment

E85 M, depending on tire sizes yes. Fronts will likely require tad camber.

Got the rare opportunity to test out the new M2 Racing. What a fantastic race car. Stating the obvious but nothing comes close to a factory race car. The car didn’t have the fastest straight line speed but it was so well composed. You couldn’t tell it was 4 cylinder turbo. No lag, no heartsick...

What have you done to your car today?

Had the intermittent wiper issue where it would stop mid-way. Not fun discovering the issue during a rainstorm. Inspected the wiper motor out and cleaned off the excess grease, fingers crossed. And yes managed to break 2 clips from the cowl, one of which happens to be on the far end so the cowl...

    carbon fibre side covers ?!?

For something that could be easily detached, lost, etc CF seems silly. Plus the plastic oe ones weigh nothing.

    Scottish Z4M Clubsport build

I couldn’t be bothered trimming the sides on the 2nd iteration either 🤣 Re exit tunnels, just make sure you have really good bracing (i.e. chassis mount). Re DRL, I tried a few but it’s either one of these 2, don’t recall where I landed but if I had to guess maybe the first...

Pros and cons of fitting BMW 19 inch MV4 wheels over standard 18 inch rims

I run both 18 and 19. All else equal (e.g. same tires and overall rolling diameter), no real downside imo. Potential cons: tires are more expensive, ride might be slightly harsher, brakes may look tad undersized. Yes 19s weigh more but so do 18” tires. So the weight difference isn’t all that...
