Fitting the factory hard top?

I quite fancy one of the factory hard tops after chatting with a chap today who had one. But I'm reading conflicting reports about whether I need some sort of fitting kit for my '05. Some say UK cars are already prepped, some are saying not.

Can anyone clear this up? I just dropped the roof and I have this...

Already prepped Pop that plastic cap off and underneath you'll find the mounting point that the hardtop locks into.

Couldn't be simpler 2 turn pins at the rear one turn key front 5 mins work for 2, much cosier for winter use

Thank you both. I'll dig out the trim tools and have a look.

I'd spotted the Z4 in the supermarket car park a few times and assumed he was a member of staff. Yesterday while driving in he was just in front of me and had the hard top fitted. It looked rather smart so I went over and tapped on his window for a chat Turns out he pays for a space there because he works nearby and we stood and chatted about Z4s and other car related nonsense for a good 15 minutes. He uses his Z4 year round, the hard top goes on about now and comes off again in the new year when the weather improves. It got me thinking....

Obviously it's started lashing it down now so I can't look. Which plastic cover? I assume 1.

You need to pop some pipe over the dips of the boot hinges to restrict opening a little too. It never used to but mine now clashes when fully open . There is a proper part for this but I ordered them and when they arrived they didn’t fit

Yep, number 1 is correct, comes off easily by hand no need for a trim tool.
