My bonnet won’t open?

All of a sudden, the bonnet won’t open. Has anyone else experienced something similar and can share what might have happened? There’s been no sign of any problems at all before (I last had the bonnet open on Sunday). But today, when I tried to open it, nothing happened.
I don’t even know where to start, so if anyone’s experienced this, I’d love some advice .
It’s a 2007 Z4 Coupé.

I had this recently, thought my wire had snapped but thanks to Enuff_Zed got me sorted. Get someone to gently push down on the front of the bonnet above where the lock is whilst you are pulling the lever. if it pops up put a little grease on the lock to stop it happening again.

You can DIY, push down on the front of the bonnet (quite hard) and try the lever again.
