Time to say goodbye...

Sadly, my beloved 30iSDrive got rear ended by a lorry while I was standing at a traffic light.
The driver admitted fault, as he was distracted -probably on his phone-. Due to the extent of the damage, it has been written off. After careful consideration, I have decided NOT to buy it back so with this, my Z4 ownership comes to an abrupt end. To say that I am gutted would be a massive understatement.
I would like to thank everyone who has tried to help me in the various threads I have posted over the last couple of years. This forum is great! And I have the feeling that I will come back, at one point or another.
Today, I have put a deposit forward for this thing...

A completely different type of driving experience but, after doing the test drive...I think that I could easily get used to it. :)
All the best to everyone! See you soon!

Glad you are okay, sorry to hear about the Z4!
I went from an E85 to a 6 series Gran Coupe. I have had the GC for 6 years and am on the look out for a Z4 again, a E89 this time!
The 6 is effortless and outstanding, we drove to south Portugal two weeks ago - the whole way, rather than a ferry to Spain it was perfect. You'll have a great time with it I am sure
And who knows, in 6 years you could be back as well ^^

Sorry to here of the demise of your Z4.

30i models were already pretty rare, but its' replacement looks lovely so hopefully that will be some compensation and at least you've stayed with BMW. But you can still drop by on here if you feel like it - if nothing else I'm sure we'd like to know what model you bought!

That's just terrible and feel for your loss, hope the replacement is everything you want and its in a great colour too

Shame about your Zed, but I rather like that generation of 6-series. I’ve been tempted by an M6 Gran Coupe several times, but they are very big cars and it would be a pain to park anywhere.

Phew , lucky your okay.. I like the GC, nice , effortless, and more room and easier to get in/out of than the z3/z4 options.

Enjoy, let us know how you like it after a spell.

V.

I also like the F series 6 series. Someone described them as a "reverse tardis"; huge on the outside but tiny inside.

I have considered the M6 coupe or convertible many times (especially in Sakhir orange) as they are really cheap now in the UK (compared to their original cost).

Only issue for me is their image. They tend to be a bit of a "gangsta" car these days. The twin turbo 4.4 engines don't have the best reputation either.
