Recall regards power cables.

I get regular recall letters regards replacement of power cable(s), at least the last 10 years.
Always ignored them.
I guess i don't want BMW fiddling and buggering up my perfectly working 16 yr old car.
Am i being silly or have others ignored this recall?

To be blunt, yes, you are being silly.

Now, there’s the whole argument about the proficiency of dealers and their technical abilities but they follow strict repair guides and technical documentation. They are paid by BMW to perform recalls, so there is no interest to perform a recall to a lower standard.

My 30i had its power cable replaced early in its life and I cannot see anything that looks remotely non-OEM about the fitment.

I’m of the opinion that these cars are getting old now and I will happily take new parts supplied and fitted for free.

Also, you said 16 year old car, which implies it is an N52 equipped vehicle. Does that mean you haven’t had the VANOS bolt recall performed? Again, a rather critical one that has the added benefit of brand new top end gaskets being fitted.

My car did not need the Vanos bolt recall, but my colleagues 2011 did some 10 years ago.

There's a more recent recall that was issued in 2023 or 2024.

If you don’t do it, your car can suddenly lose power - even at motorway speeds.

It could be fatal - get it done.

The recall was made due to routing of main power cable to the fuse block...it was bent in such a way that bare copper was exposed and could make contact with the metal bulkhead..

Seem to recall 2 items, but seem to change with time.
Started with power cable in boot then power cable front junction box.
I think the boot one was causing cut outs, but only seen in the US.
