Possibly the youngest E85 owner?

There was a merlot red 2004 E85 on here for sale a while ago (can't find the thread for the life of me) which I remember commenting on as I thought it looked really nice with BBS multi-spoke wheels. It wasn't far from me so I offered to go and look at it for anyone.

Well....it turns out it was bought by a friend of my daughter's. She showed me a picture of it yesterday. I recognised it instantly.

The lad who bought it is 20 years old. He did the sensible thing (IMO) and didn't go to 'uni' but got a decent job instead. He drives a 2 series as a daily and has the E85 as a weekend car. Good on him!

I wonder if he is now the youngest owner of an E85?

I had an M240i along with my zed, but I’m a bit older than 20 now! Good car choices.
Yes definitely better to get a good job or trade and get earning rather than some worthless degree from uni with a fake professor and get saddled with loads of debt!

Unfortunately my daughter didn't listen when I said the above. Too late now as she is in her third year and around £60k in debt!!

There is a lad on the Z3 forum who bought a 2.8 Z3 when he was 17. He hadn't passed his test when he bought it!

That’s a serious commitment to drinking and kebabs!
She doesn't drink and only cooks her own food (I think we may need a paternity test TBH).
It costs a fortune to go to Uni these days. AND we subsidise her, so her maintenance loan isn't as high as it would be!

She will be in debt to the Government for around £60k and it's cost us £15k aswell.

Many of her peers live off overdrafts from the major banks too. They actively encourage the kids to use an overdraft. Until they leave Uni and want their money back with huge interest. It's all wrong IMO.

There are tens of thousands of them in the same boat every year. It's a big old scam IMO.

That’s ridiculous! How on earth can graduates expect to pay off what could easily be £100k of debt when the earning potential for an average graduate in the UK is pitiful?
Luckily she’ll be able to live off your Fauxrrari money soon!

Yep. It is ridiculous. Not only do they all have huge debt to the Gov, but many are in debt to the major banks aswell.

Too many graduates; not enough decent jobs = many poor young adults for no good reason IMO.

As someone who went to uni recently, it's not actually that bad. I don't ever expect to pay it off, but there isn't really much point as it gets written off after 30 years. You'd make more than the monthly payments investing it instead of paying the loan off. You only start paying back a small percentage of your income over 30k or around there, so I just think of it as a small extra tax for going to uni.

Definetly not as good as a lot of other countries but nowhere near as bad as a lot of people think it is.

My son didn’t go to uni and had a Z4 before I did, at the age of 19. He doesn’t have any debt and has money saved up.

My daughter went to uni and has £60k+ of debt. Her mantra used to be that she’d never earn enough to have to pay it back, until I explained the principle of compound interest to her. In 30 years, she’d owe £250k, so she better make sure she didn’t get a good job later in life. She’s changed her tune now and decided to climb the corporate ladder.

Both my children are in the same boat, it's a bloody disgrace and half the time the lectures didn't turn up or were on strike.

Yep the striking of the poor lecturers (left wing hippies) is a thing too.
I never knew much about "uni" until now but can't understand why it takes three years to get a degree, when she has 11 hours of lectures a week (for about 25 weeks a year). The rest of the time they do sweet FA. If they trebled the lessons it would still be only 33 hours and could get it all done in a year (or less). Of course, that wouldn't suit all people and businesses making a fortune out of "uni students".

I went to uni, wouldn't change it for the world, best time of my life. Sure, the friends who didn't go and got jobs earned more than I did for the first few years, but I grew more as a person, developed more skills, and became better able to interact with people from all walks of life. It broadens the mind and helps develop lateral thinking and common sense, which are so lacking in today's society. Uni is only about the degree to people who haven't been. To others who have, it is generally understood that it is about so much more.

My job now has nothing to do with my actual degree, but the skills I developed at uni from a knowledge-seeking and critical-thinking point of view, I use daily.

I had to pay back my student loan and built up a lot of debt with the banks, but it was definitely worth it.
