Change battery

Yes, I did on my E85 2.2i, it doesn't need a dealer you can buy one from Halfords and fit it yourself, easy peasy. I think the E89 needs it coded though. Mike.
Edit, sorry just noticed its for a G29, probably needs coding 😱

That hasn't lasted long then!

My 2007 123d had stop/start and the battery didn't last 5 years - the starter motor didn't manage 7 years either.

I'm sure yours will need coding, so it's a dealer, specialist or someone on here who has INPA or similar software.

Yes G29 needs coding so the alternator sends the right charge to it (learned this when my alternator failed recently) vs the old battery. Bimmerlink can do it - will cost you £35 for the full version plus iro £25 for a plug in reader (or find a friend who has one). I would think any indy could do it even kwik-fit to be honest no point paying main dealer prices.

Conflicting opinions here, has anyone actually changed the battery successfully without using dealer level registration
Er I don’t think there is any conflicting opinion on battery swaps on e89 and g29..both use DME managed charging with IBS…so registration at a minimum is required…
