Hey everyone,
First post here, so hopefully someone can point me in the right direction because I'm honestly losing my mind over this.
A little background on the car:
Last night I was leaving my cousin's house and decided to put the top down since it was nice outside. Car was running, I pressed and held the roof open button like I always do, and everything started moving completely normally. The rear glass section folded up (First step oof cycle) and was sitting on top of the roof. The second it got to that position, it threw up "Roof movement impaired!" on the iDrive. I kept trying both the open and close buttons, held them, tried the key fob... absolutely nothing. No clicks, no pump noise, no movement whatsoever. It was like the entire roof system just died in the middle of the cycle.
I still had to get home, so I drove it (avoided the freeway because I had no idea what was going to happen). About 5 minutes into the drive, the rear glass/shell slowly lowered itself back down on top of the car by itself. It wasn't a sudden drop or anything, it just slowly settled down. The whole drive home the car kept yelling at me that the roof movement wasn't complete and that the roof wasn't locked.
The roof still won't do anything. My windows are stuck down and won't go back up as well as my trunk being completely locked. Inside button does nothing, Comfort Access does nothing, key fob does nothing. The rear glass/shell also isn't latched closed. It's sitting a few inches above where it should be and I can literally lift and wiggle it by hand.
Has anyone had this happen before or know what could've caused it? Any ideas or things I should check would be a huge help. Right now I'm pretty much stuck and don't even know where to start.
Thank you all!
Seb

A little background on the car:
- 2011 BMW Z4 35iS (E89)
- ~50,000 miles
- Completely stock
- Roof has always worked perfectly. I use it pretty regularly and it's never even hesitated before.
