Age for classic cars now 25 years old (Not HMRC)

Every 'classic car show' I have seen has a recommended minimum age of 20 years nowadays.

Yet at the last big show I 'showed' at on 28th June, I was parked next to a 2020 Merc SUV! It was filthy too! I am hoping he went in the wrong gate and the marshalls couldn't turn him around. It was most odd.

Hopefully I won't be parked next to a nearly new BYD or Tesla! If I am I shall ask for my £6 back! :rofl:

Whenever I have been looking for insurance quotes I keep getting told the age cut off for a classic policy is 20 years old, and mine will be in December.

Maybe I'll get cheaper insurance next year. 🤞
 
I went to the Powderham Castle show on Sunday, having been told a couple of years ago that it was strictly 40 years, what a load of cobblers that was, I even saw a 2005 Z4 same colour as mine. :oops:

I was told it only counts as a classic for insurance purposes if it is the second car in the house.

Don't know about you, Mikey, but I can't fit one in my house. I would if I could! But doors are narrow and cars are surprisingly large. :)

There is one 'old fashioned' car club near me who have a show in August where they are (apparently) very strict on anything younger than 1959 not being allowed.
I will bet it will be the worst attended car show of the summer! Just a few 'old boys' with their tired old MGAs and terrible Austin 7s. AA mechanics used as 'carers'. :rofl:

On the Friday we stopped in the Teignmouth supermarket petrol station to get coffee and this old land rover and trailer pulled up with an old sprite and some hay bales on it. We both wondered what they were doing. On Sunday I found out. 😆 :driving:

Someone has taken the 'barn find' trend to a new level. Barn finds are supposed to be taken out of the barn and restored. Not take the barn with them and make a 'thing' of it. Everyone finds an angle these days.
 
I am starting to learn about these 'classic car shows'. Basically no-one organising them on the day gives a shite. They tend to employ kids on the day as marshalls who are paid a tenner and couldn't care less. I may take a hi-vis then no-one will EVER question anything!

I was just looking at my 'designated' parking area on Sunday. It's out in the sticks (because I am not part of a car club). So I am going to ignore them and park wherever I want! I have a nice little spot sorted thanks to google maps and their map. :rofl:
