Unfortunately the time has come to move on from my Z4MR bought from our own @Lynchy 2 years ago.

Me and my family have a fantastic opportunity to move abroad to Australia and whilst I could look to export the car. I think the costs and measures needed to import into Australia are a bit prohibitive and I am choosing to sell in the UK. I have a good few months before we leave so this won't be a knockdown price, but hopefully people will agree its priced effectively to sell.

Excuse the advert copy/paste from Autotrader but I've had to jazz it up a little for the non-familiar general public. People here will know what they're looking at!

Happy to swap DM's or have a phonecall with anyone interested.

A rare opportunity to acquire an increasingly sought-after and highly original BMW Z4 M Roadster finished in arguably the model's signature colour combination of Imola Red with Black M Leather interior (as seen on BBC's Top Gear).

Powered by BMW M's legendary 3.2-litre S54 straight-six engine and paired with the desirable 6-speed manual gearbox, the Z4M represents one of the last truly analogue M cars. With hydraulic steering, naturally aspirated power and no turbochargers or driver aids diluting the experience, it remains one of the purest driver's cars BMW has produced.

Having covered 91,900 miles from new, the car has been lightly used in recent years, averaging approximately 3,000 miles annually over the last two years. The last two owners account for the previous decade of ownership, reflecting careful and enthusiast-led custodianship. Care has been taken to let the engine warm up before any enthusiastic use.

Rear Vredestein tyres with excellent tread remaining
CSL-replica alloy wheels recently refurbished and refinished in a more original silver finish

Condition

The interior presents extremely well for its age, the black M leather remaining in excellent condition and free from rips or significant wear. The car drives exactly as a Z4 M should, with strong performance from the S54 engine, precise steering and a fantastic soundtrack that is further enhanced by the Gruppe M intake.

The Imola Red paintwork remains a standout feature.

As values of analogue BMW M cars continue to strengthen and good examples become increasingly difficult to source, this represents an opportunity to own a highly usable modern classic.

I imported mine to Australia in 2018. It took three months by ship through the Suez Canal. The total cost to get it from storage in the South East of the UK to Sydney was 10k AUD (5300GBP). That cost included insured shipping; customs inspection; duty; GST; roadworthy inspection; registration; compulsory third party insurance and voluntary fully comprehensive insurance. That is, all costs to be able to drive it home.

The value of a car that is equivalent to yours is 50k AUD (plus stamp duty, registration, etc.) (27k GBP). As such, you would save approximately 10k GBP by shipping your car. Of course, the resale value of cars imported from the UK is less than Australian domestic market cars due to perceived rust problems.

The process is extremely easy. Mine is extensively modified and it was still painless. Importing through pathways that are not Personal Import is a nightmare. If you’re interested in keeping it, PM me and I’ll send you the details of the company I used.

Edited to clarify - Personal Import is an option only if you have owned and used the car in the UK for 12 months prior to migrating. You MUST apply to import the car within six months of arriving, thereafter you can wait indefinitely before actually shipping it.

All other routes to import a vehicle are complex and require it to meet very strict criteria (eg 25 years old, or a vehicle of great historic interest that wasn’t available in the Australian market). Essentially, the regulations prevent almost all vehicle from being imported outside of Personal Import unless they are 25 years old.

I beleive the roof motor has also been relocated too, as I did it myself in Normandy out of necessity, halfway through a French trip with Lynchy and the boys in the pre-covid years !

Sun seems to have brought the enquiries out!

Anyone interested please get in touch sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment. Would love to keep this car within the forum if possible.
