I've still got a massive smile on my face every time I drive this car. It is so engaging and great fun. I hope you like the photos. Before buying the car I paid for a comprehensive vehicle inspection and it was worth every penny. Overall, the car is in amazing condition for its age which isn't really surprising because the previous two owners tended to keep the car in a garage over the winter. It's only done 9,000 miles IN SIX YEARS!

But, there's always a but isn't there, the engineer reported some corrosion on the underneath that will need fixing sometime in the next year or two.

I'm having a full service and MOT on the car in the next two weeks and fingers crossed, all should be ok.

Happy Motoring and best regards

Looking good - it's quite unusual to find a pre-facelift with M-Sport seats. Although your Alpina wheels may not go down too well with the Alpina owners!

The first thing to corrode underneath is usually the rare brake pipes - mine are being replaced next week.

Wheels are OK. It's the badges on a non-Alp that get them going IME.

There's a lad who works in our local Halfrauds who has a tatty old E46 (diesel) with the Alpina decals, wheels and badges all over it. But he does work in Halfrauds!;)

I am sure I saw this car advertised on the forum a while ago. 🤨

Nope, sorry. Close but no cigar! https://z4-forum.com/threads/z4-e85-2-5-only-30k-miles.150661/

Thanks for the tips. I've got a lot to learn but it's great to have this forum as I am determined to learn from discussing such issues with people like yourself.

I'm definitely going to need some guidance to avoid future mis-steps!

But, I don't think I can be held responsible for decisions the previous owners made...

No you aren't responsible for what previous owners did. Keep the Alpina wheels if you like them, or until you find them a PITA to clean!

You've bought a good looking Z4 so just enjoy it.

Alpina wheels, especially 'period correct classics' as you have, are worth a lot more 'spons' than any normal BMW wheels.

But, as @Mr Tidy says, they are pig to clean.

Does that mean he can change a light bulb unsupervised?
