E89 roof relay change

Thanks for the heads up. Replacements are in the mail for mine. Mine may be are original as well.... 2010 car.
I'm planning on putting them in along with the smart-top relay this week
hmm, that’s got me thinking… apologies if I’ll find the answer within the remaining 15 pages of this thread (I’m working my way through it)… is this the bit that allows the roof to open off the key? Silly question time; how do I know if I need a smart top relay? Where is it located? How easy is it to change? Does it need coding once fitted? A

In case Peters answers get confused the smart top unit is needed to open and close the roof from yhe key fob or one touch operation from the buttons in the car.
This is a separate thing to the relays that this thread is about that as Peter has said there are 2 and are easy to change.

Thanks, I‘d worked out it’s a different system, just wondered if it’s doable at the same time and/or there’s a thread I should look at to find out ‘how to’ (having now read all 21 pages of this thread). Thanks to Peter too (as always)

The smarttop is also installed from inside the boot space, although it’s a different boot space to the relays.
Your e89 should lower the roof remotely via the key although it won’t raise it back up, that’s where the smarttop comes in - it also gives one touch operation from the dashboard buttons.
