Any Z4 owning motorbike riders out there?? What's your ride?

New to biking, passed my cbt recently, full test in spring. Liking the new GS 450 as an all rounder not too crazy yet enough bike to cut my teeth on.

2002 R1on an 03 plate. It was the last one in the UK in the Yamaha blue colour scheme so I went with the older model. Fantastic bike that still starts first time even if I've been out of the country for months and still makes me grin like an idiot every time I ride it.

I’ve always lusted after a Yamaha lc, one turned up a few weeks ago at mates rates & i couldn’t say no.
I’ve had the engine casings cerakoted as the paint was in a poor state, replaced the fork seals and various fasteners etc
Probably pulling the engine out soon as it feels like the crank seals are letting air by…

I’ve also been busy with my Kawasaki H2, the wheels were looking their age so i had a go at re spoking them.
It’s taken years off it.

Great to hear from you again Rob.

I have to say you have fantastic taste in bikes, even if I did only ever get as far as a 250LC then a KH500.

I keep looking at KHs. I don't think I would be brave enough for a 750 (they are animals so I hear), the 400 is the sweet spot for me.

When I was 17 I would have killed for a RD250LC (I was a 125cc generation so couldn't have a 250). Now many years later I prefer the KHs, although I would move planets for a decent RD400E in yellow and black.

I keep looking for GPX750s aswell. Rare as they were used and abused, only a short production run (as didn't sell very well). They are as cheap as chips if you can find one. I never owned one but I remember a feature in 'BIKE' magazine when they first came out in 1986. At the time I was more into cars and didn't have a full bike licence, but I have never forgotten them.

I was old enough to be able to get a 250, but young enough to have to endure a year on a moped. :(

But as I couldn't afford a 250 I got a Honda CB175, and soon realised I should have bought an RD200.

The early Kawasaki triples like the H2 and H1A were brutal, later ones got progressively less powerful until you ended up with the KH models but by then the 750 was long gone.

I had a Z650 in the early 80s and a test ride on a GPZ 750 Unitrack made me realise some Kawasaki's didn't feel like the frame was bending in the middle on corners, but then my first mortgage put an end to bike ownership for quite a while.

Must stop posting about bikes or I'll be buying one!

Currently on a Royal Enfield Scram for everyday duty, and an old and decrepit KLR650 for muddy fun. Well, more dusty than muddy right now, but you get the idea. And a K1600GTL for big miles (that said, I'm off to The Alps in a couple of weeks on the Little Scram. It's surprisingly capable of long rides, just slowly...). My natural home though is 250 2-strokes. I've had somewhere around 14 TZR250s now (I kind of lost count) and used to race them, as well as a couple of TZ250s. I've also got an unhealthy interest in Moto Morinis after owning a Dart for a few years.

Totting up over the years, I think the list looks like this:
1985 Honda CB100N
1986 Suzuki TS100
1987 Honda CB250RS
1987 Suzuki GSX1100EFE
1993 Yamaha TZR250
1995 Kawasaki ZXR750H1
1995 Kawasaki ZX-4
1996 Kawasaki ZXR750H1
1997-2001 Yamaha TZR250 x 9 (one road, others race)
2000 Yamaha TZ250 '93
2000 Yamaha TZ250 '96
2001 Kawasaki ZXR750H1
2002 Yamaha TZR250 x 3 (one road, two race)
2005 Suzuki GSX-R750 (endurance racer, part share)
2010 BMW K100RS
2011 BMW K100RS-SE
2013 Kawasaki ZXR750H1
2015 Yamaha TZR250
2016 Yamaha TRX850
2017 Yamaha TRX850
2017 Yamaha TRX850
2018 Suzuki SV650
2019 Honda VFR800
2020 Triumph Daytona 675SE
2021 Morini Dart
2021 Ducati 748
2021 Ducati 750 Sport
2023 Royal Enfield Scram411
2024 Beta 200RR
2024 Kawasaki KLR650
2025 BMW K1600GTL

There's probably a few missing from there. My old memory isn't what it once was! They've all been good in their own ways.
