Well done Arsenal. Now that's over and in the past let's talk about Manchester United

I support Man Utd, but I do have doubts about the ability of some of their players. I think It is about time that the talented youngsters were brought up to the first team. For me, Fernandes is, yes talented, but gives the ball away to often and these negatives cancel a lot of the obvious talent he has. I want Anderson from Nottingham Forest, I want Jarrad Bowen from West Ham, I want Michael Salisbury (the referee who allowed Matheus Cunha's goal during the week) to referee all Utd's matches. I don't want Mbeumo (he is to slow at thinking and running) I dont want Zirkzee or Doku who contribute little or nothing. I am full of enthusiasm for the new season, but will I feel the same after 3 games? Oh, and for f**k sake get a decent song for the fans to sing, get some drums to beat and lets make a fucking noise.

Yet another United supporter who lives nowhere near Manchester!

Still appointing Michael Carrick turned out to be a good decision.

In truth, I am a fan, not a supporter. Not sure about Carrick, my choice would have been Carlo Ancelloti, but It would have needed a good deal to tempt him away from Brazil. Ah well, let's see how it goes Mr Tidy.

I stopped following football when they took the champions League off ITV on a Tuesday and Wednesday night.
Id watch motd, then I'd check the results to see if motd was worth watching, then I got fed up.

I've seen football matches at old Trafford,
Celtic and more recently Coventry city.

Long gone are the days when you could name a whole squad.

Squads and now made up of who who who and who?

I be taking the opportunity to buy match day tickes for Coventry as and when the are available, again, if I can be bothered.

Whenever I went to a game at Highbury against Man U, we would chant "you should be supporting West Ham" to the away 'fans'.

Obviously when David Beckham was playing, later, it was much less polite regarding the sexual preferences of his girlfriend/wife.

I love the way that people I know who are Man U fans say "we" when referring to the club, yet live 200 miles from Manchester and have no idea where it is, let alone been there! Only that it's in the grim North somewhere. ;)

A bit unfair, people don't have to support their local team at Premier League level, I am sure there are Everton fans in Bangladesh or even Hartlepool. You mention Beckham, I remember Victoria's first visit to see him playing for United, and fans were chanting, BECKHAM! DO YOU TAKE HER UP THE ARSE, DO YOU TAKE HER UP THE ARSE, DO YOU TAKE HER UP THE ARSENAL. Funny what I find amusing.

That's what I was referring to, just didn't want to quote it. For the more 'sensitive' (literally) viewers. ;)

To be grammatically correct the chants were IIRC "David Beckham, David Beckham, does she take it up the arse?"

I remember reading that there were more Man U supporters (in their 2000s heyday) in the far east than in the UK. Fake football shirts were big business.

So if you move to another part of the country you suddenly can’t support your previous home team…? 🧐

Hadn’t thought of that had you Mr smart arse moderator …🫵😆

Tbh I’m reet happy Carricks got the job, the fans and players are behind him, not being biased but I honestly think it’ll be between us and the Arsenal next season.

Mind you as long as it’s not the scousers or Man shitty I’ll take 2nd. 😬

Just testing...

s**t
Shitting
f**k
Fucking
c**t

Ah ok so there are some ways round the swear filters it seems!

Oh also to keep this relevant, I was a Man United supporter for a while because my best friend in school was. But nowadays I only really watch international (mens) football, if i occasionally see a champions league game i support whoever scores goals.

That may happen, but doesn't seem to be the case here does it? :poke:

I'm with Pondy - most Man U supporters don't seem to live in the UK!

You are confusing supporters with fans. Man utd have huge support in Manchester and other towns in the UK, people who pay to see games. I am a fan who hasn't contributed any support to the club, and there are probebly millions of other fans accross the world. What is wrong with that? You seem to be jealous of that fact as you have mentioned it before, or is it just me you don't like?😘

I don't have a problem with anyone being a fan of any team, I just made an observation about Man Utd seeming to have more fans outside of Manchester than in it.

TBF I was pleased to see how much their results improved once Carrick took over.
