Holes in the hood

Hi, I saw a thread on here some years ago and someone had tried some sort of black glue but it didn’t look great, I wondered if there was a way to push a piece of fabric behind and glue it in place, like I have seen done on upholstery repairs. Mike. :)

I think if not careful @MikeyH, you run the risk of making it worse.
Don’t forget the water passes through that layer anyway onto the rubber skin below it, so it’s not going to leak.
 
I had 2 much deeper rub holes which were starting on the rubber lining, so I had to repair or cough up for a new roof. My choice was to use wetsuit patches, which cover up the uncontrollable glue splodge. Been done about 18 months now and not budged. Comments from mates vary from awesome idea, to why did you do that you deek head. I don't care cos it works and I'm sure I read somewhere it gives me loads more horsepower 👍

It’s a shame that it’s not possible to get to the underside of the hood easily. No offence Nick but I’m not very keen on the look 😆

So you are in the camp of "why did you do that you deek head"?
Me too TBH.
Look like a plaster on a scab, but ETTO (I had to say that to save any offence being taken). ;)
 
You can find replacement hoods from about £200 and £1000ish new just better to replace. Mine has it on both sides too.

Part of it is care and unfortunately damage done before my ownership but not putting it down when it is wet and the roof can be adjusted so it doesn't catch on the rear rubber seals which is the main culprit.
